SAP Labs Interview Experience for Associate Developer(FTE)

SAP Labs visited our college to hire final year students for a full-time role.

Process:

  1. Resume Shortlisting
  2. PPT
  3. Online Test
  4. Technical Interview-1
  5. Technical Interview-2
  6. Managerial Round
  7. HR Round

Online Test: This round was conducted on HackerRank. There were 10 MCQs and 2 coding questions.

MCQs were of moderate level and from various topics such as C/C++ output questions, Operating Systems, Computer Networking, Database Management System, Quantitative Aptitude, etc.

Coding Questions:



  1. https://leetcode.com/problems/k-diff-pairs-in-an-array/
  2. https://leetcode.com/problems/can-make-palindrome-from-substring/

Note: The test had a sectional cut-off, so it was important to do well in both sections.

Technical Interview Round-1: This round was conducted on HackerRank Codepair and this interview lasted for around 45 mins.

Questions asked in this round:

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Write a code to remove all the odd-valued nodes from a singly linked list.
  3. Give the implementation of Trie Data Structure.
  4. How do you delete a node from a binary search tree?
  5. How do we handle deadlock in Java?
  6. Difference between a process and a thread.
  7. 2 SQL queries of easy-medium level.
  8. Some basic OOPs concepts.

Technical Interview Round-2: This round was conducted on Microsoft Teams and lasted for around 30 mins.

Questions asked in this round:

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Explain OOPs concepts in layman’s terms.
  3. Advantages of C language over C++ language.
  4. Few questions around the foreign key concepts in DBMS.
  5. Memory layout of C programs.
  6. Few questions from the technologies I had used in my projects.

Managerial Round: This round was again conducted on Microsoft Teams and this lasted for around 25 mins.

  1. Questions asked in this round:
  2. Introduce yourself.
  3. Why do you want to join SAP Labs?
  4. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?
  5. Why not higher studies?
  6. How to design a chat application like WhatsApp?
  7. How does video conferencing work?
  8. Since the round was on MS Teams, he asked about the system design for the same.
  9. About the internship I did and what I worked on.

HR Round: This was the last round and again it was on Microsoft Teams.

Questions asked in this round:

  1. Introduce yourself.
  2. Tell me about your family.
  3. How had you spent your lockdown days?
  4. Why this college and not any other one?
  5. My views on covid-19.
  6. What had I done during the lockdown?
  7. One good and one bad thing about the SAP selection process.
  8. About the clubs that I was a part of, and how I was involved in the clubs.
  9. Challenges I had faced while working in a team and how had I sorted that.
  10. About my weaknesses and my approaches to improve them.
  11. My views on higher studies.
  12. My interest in terms of DevOps and Developer roles.

Few tips:

  1. Be confident and enthusiastic while appearing for an interview and don’t mug up the things just before the interview.
  2. Think aloud. Walk the interviewer through your thought process every time he/she asks you questions.
  3. Don’t fake your resume. Just write those things only which you are confident about.
  4. If you don’t know about any topic, tell the interviewer clearly about it.
