Common Admission Process(CAP) Admission Experience 2023

CAP (28^th February, Online):

Time: 9.30 am, I left the session at 11.50 am.

Interview: We were asked to be in the waiting room of the Zoom session till called for PI. There were two lady interviewers (F1 seemed to be in her early 50s, and F2 seemed to be around 40). I was the 9^th person (2^nd last). Around 5-8 minutes of the interview.

• Me: I joined and greeted but mistakenly said Good evening and then instantly corrected and greeted the morning.
• F1: “Good evening good morning”. So you want to conclude the day so fast because you have an interview now. (with a smile)
• Me: No ma’am I actually mistook it. Since I am sitting in a closed room with all lights on I mistook it.
• F1: Are you currently working?
• Me: Yes.
• F1: Where and from when?
• Me: Told them
• F1: Your overall work experience?
• Me: Answered them (I have shifted from my first job within the first 3 months)
• F1: Why so fast change of job?
• Me: Told them about my personal preference between the two available choices.
• F1: What is your current job role?
• Me: Told them
• F1: Do you think your job is associated with the usage of values and ethics?
• Me: Yes. Provided the reason because the product is used by people all over the country.
• F1: Have you learned any foreign languages?
• Me: No ma’am.
• F1: So what was your graduation stream?
• Me: CSE.
• F1: Tell what is automata theory.
• Me: Tried to explain from what I remembered.
• F1: What is the difference between a microprocessor and a microcontroller?
• Me: Told what microprocessor is but said I don’t particularly remember what microcontroller is.
• F1: Do you read the newspaper?
• Me: I don’t follow it thoroughly but I read it.
• F1: Tell me about the headlines of today’s newspaper.
• Me: I haven’t seen today’s newspaper as I was sitting for an interview today.
• F1: Okay headlines from the previous week.
• Me: Told 2 or 3 that I remember.
• F1: Do you have anything to ask ma’am (to F2)?
• F2: Yes, I also have the same question. You had a particular preference over a section and I don’t understand how MBA can help you in your technical scenario further.
• Me: Explained that at that moment I only had those two choices, but as I was interested in strategic decision-making roles [not directly in those words but this is the gist] I want to pursue MBA. Also, I got time to prepare for exams by switching to the 2^nd company.
• F2: So you said Data Structure, Teach me about any data structure considering that I don’t know anything about it and no technical knowledge.
• Me: Told about stack with examples as a pile of dishes or stack of books.
• F2: Ok so we will end it.

Verdict: Converted IIM Ranchi, Udaipur, Kashipur [others, I have not checked yet]
