Agnel Institute of Technology and Design is the youngest engineering college in Goa which is commonly known as AITD. It was established in the year 2012, and it is approximately a kilometre away from the city of Mapusa. My journey with this institute has been nothing short of extraordinary, from witnessing its construction during my childhood to eventually becoming a student and studying here. AITD’s well-built infrastructure and beautiful surroundings adds great value to the overall learning experience.

When AITD officially started, it offered three undergraduate programs they were Bachelor of Engineering in Computer, Electrical and Electronics, and Mechanical. Admission to the college was through state common entrance test called Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET), which is conducted annually. Based on the GCET rank and the priority of college and course chosen, students were allocated seats. If the student was satisfied with the slot, they accepted the seat, or they could apply for the next round of the branch of their choice.

The eligibility criteria required the candidates to have completed their 12th standard (HSSC) examination with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as their main subjects and possess a good GCET rank. Additionally, there were reserved seats for candidates from underprivileged categories such as SC/ST, Goan native and so on.

Once the merit list was published, we were allotted a day to visit the institute in person and complete the admission process. This involved bringing along all the necessary documents for verification such as Aadhaar card, school leaving certificate, marksheet and so on. The admission process was conducted efficiently, which included ID card and library card form filling, as well as other formalities and fee payments. The staff responsible for the admission procedure were very polite and helpful, actively resolving any doubts and guiding us through the admission process.

There were various reasons why I chose to study here at AITD. Firstly, it&#x2019s location was the closest to reach for me compared to the other colleges. Second was the well-maintained infrastructure, and the nice behaviour of some staff members played a crucial role in my decision-making. Third, the most important factor was the quality education and discipline that AITD provided to their students.

It is worth noting that the fees for the courses offered here are relatively higher compared to government engineering institutes. However, there were various scholarships available, which students could explore and avail to reduce the financial burden on them.

I had joined AITD during the Covid pandemic timing, which made my admission process a bit different from previous batches. Some of the activities, including admission, were conducted online, ensuring a protocol and easy experience during these challenging times.

My journey at AITD has been nothing short of amazing. The college’s commitment to academic excellence, all-round development, and a proper environment has shaped me into a better individual. AITD is not just an institution; it’s a home where dreams are nurtured, talents are honed, and where lifelong friendships are formed. As I continue my academic journey here, I am very grateful for the opportunities it has provided me and also the memories that will stay with me forever.
