Academy of Technology (AOT) Admission Experience

Hi everyone, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from AOT(ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGY). Today I am here to share my experience of my admission process at AOT, I was admitted in 2021 by taking the WBJEE (WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAM).

AOT is among one of the top private colleges in West Bengal which is affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, Kolkata.

Exams that need to be cleared to get admission at AOT for B. Tech are:-

1. WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination)
2. JELET (Joint Entrance Exam for Lateral Entry)

THE PRIOR DOMAINS AVAILABLE FOR B.TECH IN AOT ARE:-

1. Computer Science & Engineering(CSE)
2. Electrical Engineering(EE)
3. Computer Science & Business System(CSBS)
4. Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)
5. Mechanical Engineering (ME)
6. Electrical & Electronics Engineering(EEE)

Application Process:

Candidates need to complete the application form for WBJEE and submit it along with the required documents, such as academic transcripts, certificates, and photographs. The application form can usually be submitted online through the university’s official website.

Entrance Examination and Counseling:

Once the application process is complete, candidates need to appear for the WBJEE examination. The exam assesses the candidate’s knowledge in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English. Based on the exam scores, candidates are shortlisted for counseling rounds. After the declaration of result, students are required to fill the seats of the college according to their choices, and on the basis of the rank the seat is allotted to the Students.

Counseling and Seat Allotment:

Shortlisted candidates are invited for counseling sessions. During counseling, candidates can choose their preferred program and specialization based on their rank and availability of seats. There are basically three phases of counseling in WBJEE namely round 1 seat allotment, round 2 seat allotment, and mop-up seat allotment. Seat allotment is done based on the candidate’s rank in WBJEE.

Document Verification:

After the seat allotment, candidates are required to report to the particular college for document verification. The Students need to submit the necessary documents, such as educational certificates, identity proof, and other relevant paperwork. If Students are satisfied with the seat allotted in the first round they may go for the admission process in the particular college or if not satisfied with the seat allotted in the first round they may update so that they may get some other branch in some other college better than the current choice provided to the students

Criteria & Admission Process:-

I was allotted AOT in the second round of counseling and I was allotted Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) . I was eager to be admitted to this college as earlier I had a brief knowledge about the college. As my steps approached towards the college a lot of thoughts came up to my mind. To be very frank I was nervous as it was a different experience that couldn’t be penned down in words. As I entered the premises there the view was quite good or I can say the first glance was eye catching. The collage had a pond in the middle which was like adding a cherry on the top. The collage was really like something that one can look upon. As it was the time of COVID there were very few people in the college, mostly the students like me who were there to take admission. We were queued and asked to move to the administrative section of the college and we were taken to the cabin for document verification and fee payment .

In no time my unique ID was called and I entered the cabin with my heartbeat raised a bit as there were around 8 people sitting at different positions in the room and I was required to visit each one of them for my document verification. Each one of them was verifying different documents and there was one person sitting at the end corner of the room collecting the payment and giving the payment slip. The process of document verification went on smoothly and finally, I reached the payment section and made the payment & Finally, I was admitted to the college and was given a virtual id card and I was issued a new college mail ID as colleges were going online during that time.
