VGEC, AHMEDABAD Campus Experience For B.Tech IT

Hi Everyone! Currently, I am a third-year ( 5th semester) student of B.Tech Information Technology at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad. In this article, I am going to share my campus experience of the first four semesters at VGEC.

About the campus:

Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, which is very well known by its short name – VGEC is one of the most renowned government engineering colleges in Gujarat and is affiliated with the Gujarat Technological University (GTU). It was established in 1994 in Ahmedabad with the objective of imparting higher education in various engineering and technology fields. The campus of VGEC is gorgeous with a lot of plants, flowers, and trees all around.

First-Semester Experience:

My first semester at VGEC was very relaxing because all our lectures were conducted online. This was the time when I made a lot of new friends and our teachers were also very friendly. I was getting a lot of free time, so I used to upload videos on educational topics on YouTube in this free time. In VGEC, in the first and second semesters, the subjects were common to all the branches. So we studied different subjects like the Basics of Electrical Engineering, Basics of Mechanical Engineering, Programming for Problem Solving, etc. in the first semester.

Second-Semester Experience:

This was the time when all the students started going to college offline. I was very happy to meet all those friends in real whom I met online in the first semester. In the second semester, we were not studying the core subjects related to Information Technology. Going to college offline seemed like a very new experience because I hadn’t studied offline for almost 2 years because of COVID-19. So, it was an amazing experience to sit in those big classes and study different subjects.

Third-Semester Experience:

Till the second semester, We were not studying from our core faculty and our subjects were also not the core subjects of Information Technology. But from the third semester, we were studying from the professors who were supposed to teach us till the end of our engineering. The faculty of our branch was very friendly and supportive and was encouraging us to try out new things. The third semester was the time when I was enjoying my studies in real, because we were studying core subjects like Data Structures and Algorithms, Digital Fundamentals, Database Management System, etc. This was the time when I participated in a lot of hackathons and coding competitions. So overall, the third semester was filled with a lot of amazing experiences.

Fourth-Semester Experience:

In the fourth semester, I was exposed to a lot of new opportunities and this was the time when I did one online internship as well. Participating in hackathons was something that helped me a lot in learning new technologies and providing solutions. This was the time when I got to know about a lot of online opportunities from LinkedIn and enjoyed learning new technologies. Sometimes, it was becoming hard to manage everything with my studies, but after all, I was enjoying the process.
