My four-year expedition through the realm of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at the esteemed National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh was a transformative experience that left an indelible mark on my life. Commencing in 2016, I embarked on an exhilarating journey that challenged my intellect, nurtured my passion for electrical engineering, and fostered lifelong connections with like-minded individuals.

About the campus:

In 2016, National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (NIT Andhra Pradesh) emerged as a budding institution with a promising future, offering top-notch engineering and technology education. Nestled in the serene town of Tadepalligudem, Andhra Pradesh, the institute operated under the mentorship of NIT Warangal, reflecting a dedication to academic excellence and research. Its modern infrastructure, encompassing well-designed classrooms, advanced laboratories, and well-stocked libraries, fostered a conducive environment for learning and innovation. The esteemed faculty, renowned in their respective fields, imparted valuable insights and nurtured intellectual growth, while the college’s emphasis on a holistic approach encouraged personal development and extracurricular engagement. With its active promotion of technical clubs, cultural events, and student organizations, NIT Andhra Pradesh cultivated a vibrant and inclusive campus community, solidifying its position as a promising hub for engineering education and research within the prestigious NIT system.

First Year Experience:

During my first year at NIT Andhra Pradesh, I found myself in a picturesque hostel surrounded by a serene village adorned with lakes and paddy fields. Amidst this tranquil setting, I forged lasting friendships with fellow students, sharing laughter, dreams, and late-night study sessions.

Despite the peaceful surroundings, we faced challenges as issues with the mess in-charge led to a strike, prompting collective discussions and resolution-seeking. Academically, the first year involved attending classes with combined sections, interacting with peers from various disciplines. The college emphasized holistic development, mandating early morning physical activities periods with attendance, fostering discipline and team spirit. Inside the campus, computer labs provided a gateway to the digital world, allowing us to explore programming and software development. Engineering drawing sessions honed our skills in visualization and drafting, crucial aspects of our engineering journey. An exciting aspect of the first year was the interactive English class, involving Book Reading and PowerPoint Presentations, enhancing our communication and public speaking skills. Amidst the joyous moments, we encountered tough exams that tested our knowledge and diligence. Nevertheless, the support of our friends and faculty guided us through these hurdles, instilling resilience and determination.

Overall, my first year at NIT Andhra Pradesh was a diverse tapestry of experiences, laying the foundation for a transformative college journey that continued to unfold with each passing year.

Second Year Experience:

In my second year, the journey continued with a mix of excitement and challenges. As we progressed to the sophomore year, we were shuffled to respective classrooms based on our branches, and being from Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), I found myself in a new class with unfamiliar teachers, adding a fresh perspective to our learning experience. The sophomore year brought more specialized subjects, including mathematics periods that delved into the complexities of engineering mathematics. Alongside theoretical knowledge, we delved into complete electrical labs that demanded record writings and meticulous attention to detail, further strengthening our practical skills.

With the academic load intensifying, sleepless nights became a norm during exam periods. Often, we found ourselves burning the midnight oil, frantically preparing for exams just one night before. The struggle for pass marks in some subjects kept us on our toes, pushing us to work harder and seek academic support. Amidst the academic rigors, the second year also marked our first tech event, Vulcanzy. This event was a harmonious blend of technical and cultural competitions, providing a platform to showcase our talents beyond the classroom. Participating in various tech and cultural events not only showcased our skills but also nurtured a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among students.

Overall, my second year at NIT Andhra Pradesh was a time of both growth and challenges. From facing new academic hurdles to embracing tech and cultural events, it further enriched my college experience, preparing me for the exciting and eventful years ahead.

Third Year Experience:

During the third year , significant changes enhanced my college experience. The hostel was relocated closer to the college campus, fostering a stronger sense of community among students. The serene village atmosphere surrounding the college provided a peaceful environment conducive to focused learning and personal growth. However, this year also brought some challenges, as I faced two backlogs during the fifth semester, prompting me to put in extra effort and seek academic support.

Managing occasional attendance shortages required better time management and dedication to strike a balance between academics and extracurricular activities. The electrical labs proved instrumental in enriching my practical understanding and implementing theoretical knowledge. Additionally, a memorable class outing to Vijayawada Locoshed offered valuable insights into real-world engineering practices and left a lasting impression, fueling our curiosity and passion for the field.

Overall, my third year at NIT Andhra Pradesh was a transformative period of growth, learning, and memorable experiences, preparing me for the final phase of my B.Tech journey.

Final Year Experience:

In my final year of B.Tech, significant changes brought both challenges and memorable experiences. We moved back to the first hostel, surrounded by serene paddy fields, evoking a sense of nostalgia and calmness. However, the final year subjects posed a different kind of challenge, leaving me feeling confused and with a headache. This sometimes led to bunking classes and indulging in movie marathons for temporary relief. Additionally, backlogs posed a hurdle for campus placements, restricting opportunities. Despite the setbacks, I mustered the courage to attend three interviews that didn’t require CGPA criteria. The journey of the interviews had its share of ups and downs, with my first interview ending in the aptitude round, the second in the group discussion, and the third in the technical round. However, these experiences served as valuable lessons, strengthening my resolve to improve and excel in my field. Struggling to learn and cope with the academic pressure, I managed to pass the exams and clear the supplies in the 7th semester. PPT presentations, group projects on industrial management, and elective subjects kept me engaged in diverse learning experiences, broadening my knowledge and skillset.

As the final year progressed, the main highlight was our final year project, which demanded dedication and hard work. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic on March 25th disrupted the flow, and the transition to online classes and exams was sudden. Adapting to the virtual environment in the last month was a unique experience, and online exams with MCQs presented new challenges.

In conclusion, my final year at NIT Andhra Pradesh was a whirlwind of changes, challenges, and perseverance. While facing hurdles in academics and placements, I also discovered resilience and determination within myself. The experiences and lessons from this transformative year have shaped me into a more adaptable and resilient individual, ready to embrace the opportunities and uncertainties that lie ahead in my journey beyond college.
