Vel Tech Campus Experience for B.Tech

I have completed my graduation from Vel Tech University, Chennai where I pursued B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering. The whole 4 years of college were amazing filled up with a lot of ups and downs at the same time lot of memories. Because of the pandemic, we did not get to attend college for around 2 years but the 4 years of travel in my college were filled with amazing experiences and got lot of life lessons.

About the Campus:

The campus was organized into multiple different sections and branches and each was allocated to a particular discipline. Our college is filled with all the facilities which are necessary for students like the best lab facilities for every branch, we have around 3 to 4 auditoriums for students gatherings or meetings, separate grounds allocated for every sport like basketball, cricket, football, hockey, etc, A whole sperate block for the library with full AC facility, Canteens with have healthy meals.

First-Year Experience:

My first year of college was completely held offline. In the first year, almost every branch like CSE, ECE, EEE, BIOTECHNOLOGY, CIVIL, MECH, etc. has the same syllabus mostly like an updated version of the intermediate syllabus. So, it is a charge-up for us to learn the basics again. The teachers were very supportive and helpful with the students to understand the concept well. One important thing to mention is almost every subject will have lab sessions, so we learn more things practically rather than theoretically. Management will conduct multiple inter-college events in the first year compared to other years because it will help the students to socialize among themselves to find many friends. Our college will encourage the students to join the clubs such as NSS, NCC, music, scout, dance, yoga, etc. I joined in yoga and it was an amazing experience.

Second-Year and Third-year Experience:

Due to pandemic, my second and third year was tlly in online. It was quite difficult early to catch up with the concepts as the second year entered into our core discipline (CSE) which has very important coursework such as Advanced Java, Datastructures, Deep Learning, etc. But our college handled it well with the online class part like class scheduling and lab scheduling. About semester exams, conducting the seamier exam in online is a challenging task and they can’t dress up with that, but our college management made it look like a piece of cake and in third year itself many companies started their on-campus hunt as our college started their placement training program and it was useful to crack the interviews.

Fourth Year Experience:

As the pandemic was over we returned to offline mode, as the it is final year many companies started campus hiring our college supported the students well with the placement in our college 4th year 1st semester is an intense semester(3 months semester-short semester), remaining 3 months for preparation for the students without any coursework and exam worries for the placements, this intensive semester helpful for me to get placed in a good company. As our passage has a stronghold in foreign affairs they support students who want to do their major project or semester program in a foreign university with funding and stipends.
