YMCA Faridabad College Annual Fest Experience

YMCA college is situated in Faridabad, It is the top technical college of Faridabad. I took admission in 2021 in the B.Tech. Information Technology branch. It is a tier-2 college. This event organized every year in the month of march. All the freshers were too excited for this annual fest. There were many events that take place under the span of 1 week. These events were:

  • Brush Aside: In this creative event, participants were provided with all paint material except their prime weapon, the brushes. No option! They had to give their best with all that they had! The first position was bagged by Vaishali and Dipali, second position was bagged by Rohit and Pranab and third by Paras and Pooja.
  • Insurrection: A bilingual conventional debating event organized by the literary and debating society was a team event which provided a platform to the participants to voice their opinions. It saw some of the finest speakers competing for the top place! The team led by Anshul Koul and Tanisha Tyagi won the first prize followed by the team led by Mahi Verma and Anshul Sharma.
  • Spill the colors: An exciting T-shirt painting event was held by the fine arts society of the college in which the team led by Rajat and Khusboo deservingly stood first. The second position was bagged by Rohit Sinha and Pranab and third by Divya and Gunjan.
  • Lyrical Play: Organized by Dramatics society of the college, a musical and intense play showing “terrorism”, stole the hearts of one and all with its intense dialogues and poetic verses!
  • Lan gaming: Lan gaming turned out to be a huge success where the keen contestants were seen playing Counter Strike 1.6 and NFS for all three days. Rahul Mehra and Shubham Kachroo won the first and second prize in NFS respectively. The first prize in Counter Strike was bagged by Hiteshwar, Gaurav and Gagan and the second prize by Prince, Vikas, Shubham.
  • Maze Runner: An interesting event organized by the robotics club, here an autonomous robot had to follow a track on the specified arena and solve the maze. Vaibhav whose robot solved it in the minimum time won the first position and Garima the second place. Amazing talent was shown by the participants!
  • Witswilla: A three round event organized by the literary and debating society of the college, it saw the participants compete to put their point forward in a “Group Discussion”, testing their presence in opposite shoes in a “Turncoat” followed by the last round of “Extempore”. Vikas bagged the first position, followed by Vasu Garg at the second place and Anshul Koul and Mahi Verma at the third.
  • Alfaaz: The literary and debating society organized a fiesta for all the writers, penmen, wordsmiths and scribblers to jot down their artistry in the most emancipating way. This event was followed by an online competition which drew a leader board of best entries on three topics, for three weeks. However, the offline creative writing competition was open for all. Monika stood first, followed by Tanisha Tyagi and Balipal.
  • Ghanchakkar: A fun event organized by the photography club. It comprised of three exciting rounds – “Map the snap” (Jigsaw Image), “Crazy Poses” (selfie) and “Akshar Khoj” (finding letters from different things). The event witnessed a great response from the students! Hiteshwar, Parul Dhingra and Medha Acharya, Harshit bagged the first and second positions respectively.
  • Ad-Mad: Organized by the dramatics society, this event witnessed the creative side of the participants. The performances were humorous, conceptual and sensitive. The overall event was the treat to watch!! Yatin Khatri and Dhruv Kumar bagged the 1st and 2nd positions respectively.
  • Flashback: This mesmerising performance by the dancing society of the college, made all relive the golden era, dancing on Bollywood songs of the 80’s and 90’s. The group dance got everyone to their feet, dancing on their favourite songs and reminiscing the old times!
  • Wall Scrawl: A Graffiti making competition, the participants painted the YMCA walls beautifully giving them all an artistic look! The competition was a close call as each wall painting was amazing in its own. Rajat, Muskan and Nishtha stood first, Lovika, Prerna and Priya stood second, Rohit and Pranab stood third.
  • EDM: Thousands of LEDs, numerous changing patterns, electrifying music put forward such a splendid show that completely left everyone agape. Electronic Dance Music turned out to be a hit event that everyone enjoyed and appreciated.
  • Shadow Performance: Organized by Dramatics society of the college, a love story was depicted by the shadows behind the curtain. With music played in the background and some powerful performances, this play was very intriguing.
  • Zenith: Zenith was a hackathon cum pitching event in which the students had to think an idea which could prove to be an impactful solution to any problem, when implemented. Himanshu, Sukriti, Pratiksha, Anurag won the prize, Vishal, Saurav and Pranjil stood second, Niharika and Aakash bagged the third prize and Mayank and Sonal stood fourth.
  • Hepthalon: A technical cum fun event consisting of seven games was organized by the robotics club. Sachin and Harsh bagged the 1st and 2nd position respectively in ‘RUBIX-CUBE’, Megha, Vishal Rathee, Vishal were the winners of ‘GAANA-SHARAZ’ , Anshuman and Ravi bagged the 1st and 2nd position respectively in ‘TUG OF WAR’ , Vishal Rathee, Megha, Vishal were the winners of ‘ALPHA-BITS’ , Mohit came first in ‘ARM WRESTLING’ , Karan Verma was the winner of ‘DART BOARD’ and Akshay, Sahil were the winners of ‘QUICK PIC’ .
  • Cadmania: An AUTOCAD based design challenge in which participants were given some innovative and creative designs to be made in least possible time with the help of Autocad software. Abhishek Kataria bagged the first position while second position was bagged by Kamalpreet and Manisha.
  • Takeoff: An aero-modelling competition in which participants came up with their Radio-Controlled planes. It was amazing to watch planes soaring high in the sky and performing different maneuvers. Gaurav Pal, Gautam Singh, and Ashu bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
  • Kaavyotsav: In this bilingual event, the contestants unleashed the kavi in them. Kaavyotsav comprised of the poetic symposium ‘Mushaira’, the audacious ‘Slam Poetry’ and the conventional poetry ‘Poemgasm’, any way the budding poets liked to perform. Parth, Tanisha and Mandeep, Pratiksha bagged the first, second and third positions respectively.
  • WEIS: the Western, Eastern, Instrumental Solo competition, was a musical event organized by the music society of the college and witnessed a great response. The “Eastern solo” category was won by Kushaldeep , the “Western solo” by Preshika Saxena and Ankit was the winner in the “Instrumental solo” category. A melodious mashup of various eastern and western songs kept the audience entertained.
  • Makeover: Makeover was another interesting event held by the fine arts society in which the artists gave an entirely different look to the faces, doing miracle with the paints. The first position was bagged by the team of Rohit and Simran, second by Pranab and Muskan, third by Lovika and Priya.
  • Musical hunt: A treasure hunt organized by music society of the college. Participants were given musical clues to discover something unbelievable. Moksh was the winner of this exciting musical hunt.
  • Mime: A theatrical play by the dramatics society of the college, suggesting action and emotion using only gestures and expressions! The act, without words, without speech created a wonderful story for the audience to enjoy and cherish!
  • Tech Expo: An event organized by the robotics club in which a number of teams from our college as well as from other colleges showcased their projects. Chetan and Rishabh with their project on ‘bluetooth controlled Miniature Crane’ were the winner of this event.
  • Design revolution: A graphic designing competition for designing a logo for a company, depicting their ideals as closely as possible! Jayant Jangra,Sidharth and Hiteshwar,Mayank bagged the first and second positions respectively.
  • Mr. and Miss Culmyca: An event to award students with the prestigious title of Mr. and Miss Culmyca, it comprised of several rounds with only the best few reaching the final one! The overall personality of the participants being judged, the competition saw contestants showing off their style in a ramp walk followed by some interesting questions put to them. Passing through all rounds, Tushar Valecha and Ojasvi Bhandari were finally declared as Mr.& Ms. Culmyca respectively.
  • THE STAR NIGHT: Footfall of 5000+, over 50,000 watts of music, YMCA drowned in the colours of music, this time pure Punjabi style during the star performance of “Sharry Mann” and couldn’t stop itself from dancing on the times of ‘Yaar Anmulle’, ‘Teen Peg’, ‘Vadda Bai’ and a lot more. The heart throbbing performance by the star of the night had set the stage on fire. The evening was definitely the most awaited of all, and the students thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a perfect ending to the three-day extravaganza!
  • Comic wars: Another online event by the fine arts society in which the participants were asked to design a unique comic strip, in the best way they could portray their idea.
  • Xunbao: Xunbao was an online event which made the participants go bizarre in finding the answers to the tricky yet enthralling questions and be the leader in the race.
  • HackOn: An online event that brought out the hacking worm in the participants. The event included hacking, encryption and much more.
