Hello guys,

I am a student of B.Tech CS (Specialization in Data Science) at YMCA college and appearing in the 7th semester after ending of summer vacations.

I took admitted to this college in 2020 during the pandemic of Coronavirus, It’s a Tier-2 college in Haryana, which is also now a state university taking more than 10+ colleges. There are two ways to apply for admission, either you can apply online or by offline counseling. I applied through an online application. Therefore, I will mention the online procedure in this article.

Application Process: The application forms are invited through the Haryana State Technical Educational Society (HSTES) on Haryana Online Admissions to AICTE approved Technical Courses (techadmissionshry.gov.in). For knowing the exact opening of application forms, took a keen eye on the official college website (J.C Bose University Of Science And Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (closest.ac.in)). There is a section as “Admission” on the dashboard of the website. This section contains all the information, on how to take admission through online forms by applying on the HSTES website along with all the official key dates and other required knowledge of documents. Some of the important documents on the website are:

  • HSTES Brochure: This contains the process of creating an ID on HSTES for admission, course choice filling, and FAQs regarding online procedures.
  • Fee Structure: This contains the fee of different branches along with non-technical courses as well.
  • Information brochure: This document contains the admission information from the college side, like application fee refunding procedure, Eligibility, available courses, Scholarship information, Seat matrix, Quota benefits, etc.

I made an ID on the above-provided link of the HSTES website according to the information present in the HSTES brochure. I uploaded some of the important documents like the Category certificate, Income certificate, and Domicile. After that, I was able to fill the choice of at most 3 branches (according to preference order). I filled in my all 3 preferences in the order:

  1. CS (Specialization in Data Science), This was the new branch added in 2020.
  2. T (Information Technology)
  3. CSE (Computer Science and Engineering)

The seat will be allotted according to the JEE exam rank and availability of seats. The seat allotment result can be seen in the “Seat Allotment result” section on Haryana Online Admissions to AICTE-approved Technical Courses (techadmissionshry.gov.in). If there is a seat allotted to you, then you can claim that seat by paying an amount of 10,000(can vary from year to year or due to HSTES guidelines) Rs. for general candidates. For the reserved category, it takes only 1,000 Rs. for claiming a seat.

For more detailed procedures you can see the college admission procedure at (11) Raghav Zone – YouTube. He is a pass out of YMCA college and made really good, detailed admission procedure videos. I followed the videos during my admission procedure. This Information Brochure is also beneficial.

Criteria or Eligibility of Course: The Eligibility of taking admission is mentioned in the Information brochure itself at the college’s official website. One can see the detailed eligibility for both technical and non-technical courses by downloading that document. The eligibility of my course is listed below:

  • Education: Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Electronics/ Information Technology/ Biology/ Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/ Entrepreneurship.
  • Minimum Marks: Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
  • Entrance Exam Score: This depends upon many factors, like ranks of applied candidates, quota relaxation, number of available seats, etc. You can see the cutoff for my college at Last Year’s Opening and Closing Rank Cut-Offs (techadmissionshry.gov.in) and fill below details:
    • Select Course: B.E/B. Tech
    • Select Institute: J.C Bose University of Science and Technology, Faridabad.
  • Relaxation for reserved categories: Reserved categories are required to obtain 40% marks in board exams and the All India ranks of JEE is also a bit relaxed for reserved ones.

Important Documents: The documents are listed in the Information brochure, For taking admission in technical courses, the important documents were:

  • Online Admission form photocopy filled by student.
  • Seat allotment letter.
  • Deposited fee slips.
  • JEE Rank Card.
  • 4 colored photographs.
  • 10th Marksheet
  • 12th Marksheet
  • Aadhar card
  • Category Certificate (For reserved categories)
  • Income Certificate
  • Character Certificate of student
  • Domicile
  • Migration certificate
  • Anti-Ragging certificate
  • Gap Year Certificate (If there is any gap year)
  • Medical Certificate from a Government hospital
  • Family ID.

Reason for choosing this college:

  • Near to home: This college was near to my home, it just takes barely an hour to reach there. Which saves a lot of time for a day scholar. The time saved can be used to do some essential study and side hustle.
  • Placements: As it is a Tier-2 college, Therefore, it also provides some of the best on-campus placements. The tech giants that visits are Samsung, Adobe, Amazon, Juspay, Media.net, BNY Mellon, Josh Technology, etc. All the recruiters can be seen at J.C Bose University Of Science And Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (closest.ac.in) Placement percentage is also good and the average package is near to 10 lacs. for computer branches. Official records of placement can be seen at J.C Bose University Of Science And Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (jcboseust.ac.in).
  • Scholarship: Reserved students are also eligible for the scholarship. For this benefit, they have to visit the scholarship branch of the college, which directs the students further for scholarship schemes.

Verdict: I got admission to my first preference branch, The best part of the admission journey, I got the seat allotment letter on my birthday.

My Personal experience in college:

  • Online phase during the pandemic: I took admission during a pandemic. Therefore, my first 3 semesters went online. Just wake up in the morning and attend the online classes on Google Meet. It was not much fun that time.
  • Offline phase after the pandemic: College went open during the final exams of 3rd semester. These were my first offline exams. After the commencement of the new semester, Students meet with their fellow students, know about each other, and came into friendships. Most of the students think that they aren’t in a good place. They must work hard for admission to the best NITs. I said those, only JEE is not the last important part of life, There are many other important phases that are yet to come????. Personally, I don’t like JEE because of the throat cut competition, and I was not well in competitive exams also. On the other side, I was satisfied with my admission????, because I was not in the hope to get admission here (Due to competition in JEE ranks).
  • Coding Culture: Good in terms of coding culture, most of the students indulge in Competitive Programming, which also helps them to perform well in Technical Interviews. Some of the best minds.
