I have completed my BCA from DAV Centenary College, Faridabad in computer science. Just like a normal student, a college seems fascinating and full of excitement when you got to know that, you have successfully got admission in that college. I was also ecstatic, excited and willing to dive into the college life. However, due to covid pandemic for few months we had to study online which was a different experience as well.

About the College:

DAV Centenary College, Faridabad was established in 1985. I has several courses of UG and PG as well sharing its boundaries with DAV School NIT-3 & DAV Institute of Management. College consists a basement auditorium with capacity around 1500+ audience equipped with projector, audio and video system with a changing room and a control room. Also, an IQAC room for conferences and meetings with a open stage near the library. The campus is filled with trees and grounds. It has Library, Chemistry labs, computer labs, Sports Ground, Shooting Range, Yoga Hall, and also a canteen.

First Year:

My first year was full of excitement and confusion at the same time. Switiching to online study made things challenging but was just another experience with time. When new batch comes and classes starts for the new batch, college performs Hawan in the
“Yagya Shala” which is near the main gate. This culture of performing Hawan on every occassion is what I liked the most in the college. A talent search competition was organised with several categories such as literacy, fine arts, best out of waste, cultural, rangoli, etc. Students across the college participate in the events.

Second Year:

Second year classes was offline and daily activities of college clubs like NSS, NCC, YRC, etc I witnessed. I already enrolled myself for NSS volunteer and started working in the second year. Found several seniors that helped me in different phases of college. As an NSS Volunteer, I served society by organising blood donation camps, planting trees, pulse poliyon abhiyan, thalassemia camps, etc. I also organised rally on Plastic, voter awareness, etc. In the second year I started programming. I learned several soft skills.

Third Year:

Third Year was full of fun and I became the President of NSS Boys Unit. I collaborated with several NGOs and worked with them. Since the starting of third year, I started working on projects and preparation for interviews and assessment. I started learning my domain skills to create a portfolio. Also, I sit in SSC CGL exam. I participated in camps organised by MDU Rohtak. However, I believe that this article may not be enough to define a college student’s journey.

Overall, College is good in terms of study, accomodations, hospitality and all.
