About Provenance 2023:

Provenance” is the annual Techno-Cultural Fest of RVS College of Engineering and Technology, Jamshedpur. It is the biggest fest of the city. I am a 2nd Year CSE student of this college. Through this article, I am going to share my experience of attending the first ever college fest of my life.

Due to the covid pandemic, Provenance was being postponed. But this year it was held after almost 3 years of long pause. This year, it was held on 26,27 and 28th of April,2023. Those 3 days were full of excitement and joy.

Pre-event Preparations: The preparations started 10 days before the event. Many different committees were formed which were assigned different responsibilities for smooth running of the event. I gave audition for the anchoring role and I was selected as one of the anchors. For the promotion of the event, a flash mob was organized in P&M Mall, Jamshedpur. I was an anchor in that flash mob. For the first time in my life, I had interacted with such a huge unknown crowd which consisted of people from every age group. Cheering them up and getting response from was an overwhelming experience for me. This helped me to get a confidence boost.

And the fest begins…

Day 1 : The first day started with a opening ceremony in the auditorium, where was Principal sir told was about the importance of such fest in shaping the personality of a person. Provenance is the blend of technical and cultural events. Then there were various events organized such as Boys Gully Cricket, Hackathon, Reels making, Coders Conquest, etc. I had participated in Technical Quiz along with my friend and we were declared the runner’s up. Also, a rangoli competition was organized in which I saw various creative rangolis based on social issues like Women Safety, Gender equality, etc. The best part was that this completion was won by a male competitor which proved that men and women are no different in terms of skillset. During evening, the prizes were distributed and we(me & my friend) got the certificate and cash prize for Technical Quiz. For the evening event, I was assigned the task of anchoring along with one of my junior(female). Together, we have taken the event forward and welcomed all the performances like solo song, solo dance, dance battle, duo-dance ,etc. The amount of whistling and cheering that we were getting from the crowd was unimaginable and that gave us real chills. But unfortunately, rain disrupted the event and many performances were postponed for the next day. This is how, Day 1 ended.

Day 2 : The second day started even more energy and excitement. In the 2nd day, many events like Gully Cricket(Girls), Fun from Junk, Robo Race, Cover Up, etc. One of my friend took part in Gully Cricket which was held for girls and I went to cheer for her. It was great to see girls play sports which are generally played by men across the world. I along with one of my friend took part in Face Painting. Now, this was the first ever time that I took part in such a competition and guess what? I was the one, whose face was to be painted and friend was the painter. The theme was” Sea Creatures” and within 45 minutes, face was to be painted portraying the theme properly. My friend painted my face and portrayed the theme beautifully. Although, we could not win the competition, but this was a great experience for both of us. Then, after the competition, I joined my other friend for reels making. The theme of reels making was “How do you view your campus?”. We took many photos of the campus and tried to compile them and show it in a creative way. But unfortunately, I was not able to submit my video on time and I was disqualified from the competition. Then in the evening, the postponed events started. One of my friend took part in Ramp Walk and we cheered our heart out for him. It always feels great to see friends going out of their comfort zone and doing something. Then, many dance performances was held. In the last, DJ Night was held in which the very famous DJ Steve was invited. And to be honest, we all danced madly till his last song. The second day was amazing, filled with lot of new experiences , craziness and madness.

Day 3 : The final day of Provenance started with many events taking place simultaneously like Gully Cricket finale, BGMI , Rubik’s Cube Challenge, Web Mania(Website Design Challenge), Abhinaya, Paper Dance, Expresso, etc. I along with my two other friends took part in a game called Dumb Charades in which we had to guess the movie name correctly without uttering any word. Although, we won the first round, but in the second round, we were disqualified because of my silly mistake. With a heavy heart , I then went to see the other competitions. Among all the competitions that I saw, I enjoyed the robo soccer, which fascinated me in terms of technicality and Paper Dance , in which I laughed my heart out. Then, in the evening, we were waiting for the most awaited event- the celebrity night. This year, for celebrity night, the very famous singer “Yasser Desai” came to our college. It was the first time in my life, that I was attending a live concert of such a famous singer. I literally got goosebumps during his performance. He ended his performance with party songs . I enjoyed the whole concert so deeply that literally my throat got chocked and my legs started paining because of constant cheering and unstop dancing. The final day of Provenance 2023 ended with the promise that next year, it would be more ultimate and more exciting.

My thoughts :- In this fest, I made many memorable memories which I would remember for lifetime. Also, by taking part in different activities, I stepped out of my comfort zone and did something new everyday. So overall it was a once in a lifetime experience.
