IIIT Allahabad Campus Experience for M.Tech IT

From the first day when I came to know about the beautiful campus, the good coding culture, the great facilities provided to the students inside the campus and the amazing placement packages, IIIT Allahabad became my dream college.

When I planned to prepare for my GATE exam to pursue my master’s, I already had this college on my go-to list. Luckily, I got my admission here.

Let me give a brief introduction about IIIT Allahabad. IIIT Allahabad is among the top IIITs in India. It holds a good NIRF ranking, QS Asia University ranking 2023, QS World University Ranking 2023, India Today 2022 and 2023 Engineering College Ranking and many other achievements. It is popular for its good coding culture and placements.

Campus Tour:

On the first day, as I entered the campus, I was amazed to see its beauty. It was greenery all around with beautiful gardening. There is every facility provided inside the college which you can dream of. There is a Nescafe store for coffee lovers, an amul store and a snack store for foodies. There is also a store which has all daily use items like soap, detergent, cosmetics, snacks, cold drinks, etc. There is a beauty parlour for girls, a separate gym for boys and girls, a large swimming pool, two large playgrounds, a pavilion, and separate courts for basketball, volleyball, and badminton. There is also a separate building for indoor games like chess, carrom and table tennis, a music room where all types of musical instruments are available, and a dance room. There is a health centre where you can go for any of your health issues. Near the girls’ hostel, there is a night canteen too which opens during the night. There are three girls’ hostels named as GH1, GH2 and GH3 and 5 boys’ hostels named as BH1, BH2, BH3, BH4, BH5. There are visitor hostels for guest stay, faculty Guest house, VIP Guest House, 60 residential quarters of type I, II, III and IV, married scholar apartments ,a very large auditorium, a very large and beautiful library where you can find any book you want. There is a beautiful temple too inside the campus. There are various small grounds too in campus with benches for relaxing and spending leisure time with friends. There is also clock tower and a large cafeteria inside the campus. There is a main entrance gate and 4 other entrance gates which open at different sides of the campus. The whole campus is spread in 100 acres with apartments and colonies for workers and faculties on the other half of the campus.

Now coming to the academic blocks. There are 4 large academic buildings inside the campus named as AAA building, CC1, CC2 and CC3. CC1 , CC2 and CC3 buildings have big labs and lift inside them in each floor. Classes are mainly held in these buildings. AAA section is the main building which can be seen from the main entrance as we will enter this campus. All the main offices are inside this building.

My Academic Experience here:

To really cope up with the academic journey of this college you need to be really sincere and discipline. There is a attendance criteria of 75% which is strictly followed which means if your attendance is below 75% then you would not be able to sit for exams. There is a separate passing percentage criteria for mid and end semester examinations. For mid semester exams including the lab assessments , quizzes and attendance passing criteria is 30% and for end semester the criteria is 40%. You need to pass both these criterias to be eligible for moving to the next semester. The level of difficulty of these exams is easy to medium and everything comes from what is taught by the faculties. There are weekly lab evaluations which carry marks. Regular assignments will be given by faculties one after the other. But don’t worry every one gets time even after so much of hectic schedule. The faculties are also very friendly here. Overall it was a great learning experience here.

About College fests :

The time of College fests is the most chilled time. There are various college fests organized by the college.The sports fest is named as ASMITA which is the inter-IIIT sports meet. After every few years our college get an opportunity to host this event in our campus. The cultural fest is named as Effervescence which lasts for 3 days in which students from over 150 colleges across India participate and in online events participants of over 25 countries can be seen. The technical fest is named as Aparoksha. It is the largest technical fest of North India in which participants from over 130 colleges across India participate to showcase their technical skills. There are several other big and small events organized by the college every now and them.

About Placements :

More than 200 top IT companies from India as well as outside India come for college placements. This college has amazing placements. You will definitely get placed in good company if you work hard on your coding skills.

Overall, my campus experience at IIIT Allahabad was amazing.
