Hey guys, I am currently a 2nd-year student in CSE at MNNIT Allahabad. Talking about my campus, it is very beautiful, organized, and designed in a very interesting manner. It is located in the religious city of Allahabad and covers an area of about 222 acres. After giving you a small note about my college, now let’s dive deep into my 1-year journey at MNNIT Allahabad.

1. Campus life

The campus life at MNNIT is characterized by a mix of academic, cultural, and technical activities. The institute organizes cultural fests such as CULRAV and technical fests such as AVISHKAR. Culrav is held during May and avishkar during November, both these fests are held for three days and several competitions and fun events are organized during these fests, and students enjoy to their fullest in these events. Apart from technical and cultural, there are certain competitions for sports enthusiasts such as the ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET and JOSH & JALAL. There are also certain clubs and societies where every student can take part according to their own interest, trust me you won’t feel a single moment dull at the institute, the campus will provide you with every kind of opportunity and keep you hooked on the events and competitions throughout the year.

However, our college started late in November and our college tried to finish our first year in a hurry due to which I didn’t get to experience much of campus life, but I tried my best to enjoy every part to the fullest.

2.Everyday academics

The institute is quite strict about academics and places a lot of importance on it, our academics have been modified according to NEP. The day usually starts at 8 am and can go up to 6 pm with a gap of 1 hour in between for lunch. In my CSE course there were the following subjects in 1st sem:

  1. Maths (4 CREDIT)
  2. Physics (4 CREDIT)
  3. AI (3 CREDITS)
  4. Computer organization (3 CREDIT)
  5. Ethics (2 CREDIT )
  6. Discrete maths (2 CREDIT)
  7. C language (3 CREDIT)

In 2nd sem, there were the following subjects:

  1. Maths (4CREDIT)
  2. Chemistry (4 CREDIT)
  3. Ecology (2 CREDIT)
  4. Professional communication (3 CREDIT)
  5. optional course- I took electronics (3 CREDIT)
  6. optional course – I took NCC (2 CREDIT)
  7. programming paradigm (2 CREDIT)
  8. data structures (3 CREDIT)

The syllabus was hectic because the college had to finish the 1-year course in just 6 months but still somehow we managed to get decent grades.

Talking about attendance 75% is mandatory although some professors are friendly enough to consider 50% also some are so strict not to even consider 74%. Professors are just for namesake, if you stay dependent on professors then believe me nothing is gonna work out. You have to get out of spoon-feeding and have to do your own self-study.

3. Placements

Talking about placements our institute came 2nd in all nit’s and 7th in all engineering colleges. Our institute has an impressive placement record and the scenario is quite promising with a high placement rate and decent average package. The placement rate during MNNIT Allahabad BTech placements in 2023 was reported to be 91.82%, the placement percentage has increased by 17.36%. The average package is around 27 LPA, the lowest is 9 LPA, the highest domestic package goes up to 82 LPA and the highest international package is 133 LPA. Many top MNCs such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, and many others companies visit our campus each year

The reason for such high placement is due to the coding culture of the college, the coding culture is excellent and among the best in all NIT’s. We have a coding club here where the seniors give training to all the students irrespective of the branch in which they are studying. They teach topics such as DSA, OOPs, IOT, and various other computer-related stuff. They hold classes during weekends and even hold competitions such as Devjam and Hack 36 where you can put your coding knowledge to the test.

We also have TPO (training and placement office). which trains students before placement. They also ensure that every student gets placement with a good package. They guide us in each step of the placement process and ensure that we get placed.

Placements are the only thing that we MNNITians boast about.

4. Infrastructure

The infrastructure is not that great not that bad, some buildings are new whereas some look centuries old. Talking about wifi connectivity, we don’t have wifi facility on campus but the hostels have got lan ports.

  1. Multipurpose hall- This hall hosts every kind of event ranging from avishkar to culrav to rukshat . Your admission process will start in this hall and your farewell will also be hosted in this hall. This hall holds memories of thousand of events and it also has a badminton court inside it
  2. Grounds – There are three grounds athletic ground, gymkhana ground, and basketball court. The athletic ground is the biggest of all and all sports events are held here. Next, we have gymkhana ground mostly football and hockey are played here , it is smaller than athletic ground but still manageable enough to play, it also has a gym attached to it. The basketball court is properly maintained but it opens only in evening.
  3. Hostels-Talking about hostel life, only first-year hostels are good and quite spacious (SVBH), the rest all years hostels are conjusted with two people, but we have a new hostel in construction which will soon be alloted to final-year students. The mess food is not that good but it is edible enough to keep you alive.

5. Conclusion

At last, I would like to say to my readers that whatever college you get, try to explore it as much as possible and enjoy your college life to the fullest. In the future, you would certainly remember and miss these days.
