I would be more than happy to share my campus experience with you! My Name is Suraj Bhan, and I’m pursuing a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology in Allahabad. I didn’t get to go to college for a colossal piece of the educational program, yet the couple of days I spent there were loaded up with new encounters and learnings at each step.

About the campus:

Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, Prayagraj (MNNIT) is an institute dedicated to academic excellence and quality. It was founded in 1961 as one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges of India as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and it was an affiliated institution of the University of Allahabad, India’s third-oldest university.

The MNNIT Allahabad campus is not large, yet it provides all the required resources. DC++ is available on campus. The hostel’s accommodations are excellent. Seniors are helpful. You can seek their assistance with any academic issue.

Overall, MNNIT has a pleasant campus life. Throughout the academic year, several technical, cultural, and quizzing events are organised. MNNIT’s cultural festival is CULRAV.

I took admission in MNNIT Allahabad 2021 in the Mechanical Branch and observed my experience in simple words.

  • You will meet students not only from metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi but also from villages. This will give you exposure to different levels of socioeconomic backgrounds as well.
  • You can visit Civil Likes in Allahabad for group outings, eating outside, and relaxing over coffee or chai. Uptron is an affordable canteen where you can get food at the lowest price.
  • Get ready for Vivas, internships, and 8-credit projects to keep you preoccupied most of the time.
  • The only respite would be time spent in the Multi-Purpose Hall and during festivals. They are India’s biggest technical, quiz, and cultural fests, and you are free to exhibit your creativity and form good networks.

Your four years at college appear to pass in a blur of adventures, sometimes exploding as memories. When your pals are placed with a reputable company, you will feel a lot better, and the diversity of your batch mates will enrich you.

If you are interested in developing anything new, the college will put roadblocks in your way, such as these:

Inadequate manufacturing facilities: As a mechanical engineering student, you may construct a machine or a humanoid robot. MNNIT, on the other hand, has a 35-lakh-rupee 3D printer that doesn’t work. Even the CNC machines are inoperable due to their age. The lab contains a ‘robotic arm’ that moves at times and serves as the only exhibit at the lab-turned-museum.
Lack of academic freedom: You are not permitted to select your own subject! As a result, you may find yourself learning steam-powered engineering’ even if you have no intention of working in that sector.
Dull and monotonous: You will be assigned to a non-AC classroom due to the 75% attendance guideline. If you are a female student, you’ll have to abide by stringent hostel timing rules.

Being an engineering student, you must worry about the washrooms, or mess rather you should be concerned about the lab timings, technical facilities available there, and whether it all works efficiently. If you’re a CS student, then you’ll be fine. Other branches too may find things to their liking but not mechanical.

MNNIT Hostel Room: MNNIT hostel rooms are in good condition. Three students share a room. Each hostel room has a bedroom, a study room, and a balcony. Students are provided with beds, chairs, study tables, cupboards, and study lamps. The hostel has wifi facilities.

The washrooms are common. Every floor has washrooms, at each corner. There are aqua guards and geysers on each floor as well. The hostels have common rooms. There are computer rooms with internet connection as well.

Placement at the MNNIT:

MNNIT Allahabad placements for MTech students are average. Almost all the software MNCs like Amazon, Walmart, Qualcomm, etc. allow MTech CSE students to sit for placements. For branches like Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical, the core placement opportunities are limited.

But Btech Placement is Very Good.

Placement 2022-23:

In Computer Science & Engineering,95% of students are placed in popular companies, Highest CTC of 1.32cr and an average CTC of 27.45 lahks.

each branch has very good placement.

6.8 in MNNIT Allahabad isn’t a good CGPA. If you want to get placement offers you need to have a CGPA of around 7.5-8. Most recruiting companies visiting MNNIT placements have a CGPA requirement. Your graduation score will be crucial for pursuing higher studies as well. But if you are planning on having your own startup, your CGPA won’t matter much. You just need to focus on mastering the skills.

Branch Sliding option:

Yes, you can apply for branch sliding at the conclusion of the first year. However, you must have a CPI of at least 7.5 to be eligible.

My brother applied for branch sliding as well. Despite the fact that 90% of students applied for branch sliding, there are only a few seats available in the branches (3 or 4).

Because there are only a limited number of seats available, the competitiveness in-branch sliding is similar to that in JEE Main. Your CPI must be more than 9.0 to be eligible for a branch such as IT or CSE.

The date of the outcome of the branch slide is entirely due to academic mismanagement. You will be required to work for 2 or 3 weeks after the start of lessons.

Conclusion: Never mess up your pointers. A 9+ pointer will help you get internships, jobs, and ahead in your career. Furthermore, a higher pointer indicates that you have studied that subject, which implies that your fundamental knowledge of the subject is solid.

  • Make personal notes on all subjects every year. Your exams will comprise the teachings in your class. It will also assist you in better understanding the subject.
  • Maintain a cordial relationship with all the professors, their help will be required in every step while in the college.
  • Improve your communication skills by learning English. It will assist you in obtaining a good job because every company values good communication skills.
  • Develop an area of interest, and do some good projects under professors, and it will help you in the future with jobs and higher education.
  • By the end of the first year, make sure you find your goal in life. It can be GATE/IES or maybe CAT, core jobs/consulting jobs, higher studies, Civil Services, etc. Take a decision and be on your toes. Start working on it.
