Academy of Technology (AOT) Admission experience for MCA

Academy of Technology is a very popular Engineering College in Hooghly District of West Bengal. This college is mostly popular for BTech and placement record is also pretty good. It is a private collage and was established in 2003. All courses are approved by AICTE, recognised by Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal and affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly West Bengal University of Technology).

Lots of student from all over the state come here to take admission. After the lockdown has ended the MCA in this college got quite popular.

About Me:

Previously I had done BSc Honours in Computer Science under Calcutta University. I am 2022 pass out. During my final semesters I worked at Wipro. Then I realised the package of BSc students are very low compared to other branches. Of course it’s true that when we gather experience then degree doesn’t matter, but I wanted a masters degree and wanted to start with a higher package. Then I decided to leave Wipro and pursue MCA.

My Reasons to choose this College:

The syllabus of MCA is very modern compared to other universities, this is one of the major reason I choose to study MCA under this university. And the travelling complexity was relatively simpler compared to other colleges which are situated in Kolkata, This is again one of the prime reasons to choose this college.

About the Course:

As I told earlier that I found out the MCA Syllabus was very modern and I got attracted to it.

In 1st semester we had Python as Starting Language, which is a very beginner friendly language and anyone from any branch can learn this, after that the good part is we had DSA with python on 2nd Semesters, this attracted me the most. Previously I had done DSA with C and I found it very tough and at that time I don’t even knew how important DSA is. So this is a great courser curriculum that MAKAUT is offering.

Exams:

The only exam required to get admission in MCA is West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam(WB JECA). AOT does not need any specific rank for MCA. Any JECA qualified students are eligible to get admission.

However I do not appeared for JECA on 2022 for some medical reasons. So had to get admission in Management Quota.

Criteria and Process:

The 1st Criteria is to have at least 60% Marks in both 10th and 12th. These marks are very important as they will decide the placement criteria also.

They do not have any online admission process. So candidates have to go to the college physically with their Guardian. After reaching there they will provide the necessary documents to fill up. Presence of guardian is mandatory as the signature of the parent will require. So I went to the college with my mom.

After reaching the college gate the security guard told us to go to Block D for admission related work. After reaching the building we were told to go to a specific room and talk with a sir, he was an admission coordinator. After meeting with that sir he told all the necessary steps and started the document verification.

Required Documents:

1. Class 10th and 12th Marks Sheet
2. BSc or BCA Final Year Marks Sheet
3. Admit Card
4. College Leaving Certificate
5. Migration Certificate from University
6. Domicile Certificate
7. Identity Proof (Aadhar Card or any)
8. Birth Certificate

After that they gave me two forms; one is Eye Checkup form and other is health form which should be filled up by respected doctors and had to submit them to the college.

After all of there they provided me a Provisional Id Card, and redirected to me to the cash counter. Another point to remember they do not accept Online payment or check. They will only accept Cash or Bank Draft. So me and my mom went to the ATM counter which was located just outside the college gate and withdrawn the money and submitted to the cash counter.

Few Days later I got mail to generate the College Mail id and password, so that they can send all the college related informations and further communicate to the AOT mail.
