95.2 percentile in JEE | Enrolled in MAIT (CSE)

I am a student enrolled in Computer Science Engineering at Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Technology.

My journey to get enrolled into an engineering college begins when I decided to prepare for Jee mains exam. I was all charged up, ready to go into one of the top engineering colleges. But then Covid happens, with all the lockdown going on, and I got a bit distracted and my jee exam did not go as planned. I got 95.2 percentile. Once the results were out, my search for a good college began.

I started researching various colleges that I could probably get into, and started making a list of colleges that were good and that I wanted admission into. Google was very helpful but apart from it, I also took advice from my cousins who were doing engineering or who had knowledge about this domain. So the colleges that I shortlisted were: LNMIIT (Jaipur), UIET (Chandigarh) and my last option was MAIT (Delhi). All of these colleges accepted JEE rank.

My first preference was LNMIIT, although there was much speculation around its cut-offs as i could not get exact cutoff details. I was hoping that I could get CSE ( computer science engineering) or CCE (communication and computer engineering) but then I met a student of the same college and he told me that the cutoffs are quite high for the CSE but I could hope for CCE. With that in my mind, I participated in the counselling of LNMIIT. But the required cutoffs were higher.

Next, I counted on UIET for admission and I had very high hopes for it as the previous year’s cutoffs were quite promising. I filled in the counselling form, it was all online. I waited till the spot round but could not get into it as well. I was sad about it.

I was sure for Mait as the cutoffs were low, I participated in the counselling of JAC Delhi. and I got IT in the Second Round of counselling, which was further upgraded to CSE in the subsequent round. Then i had to go for document verification to the campus which is located quite far from main Delhi. There I had to sit in the auditorium with my documents like Adhaar card, Marksheets etc. Once verification was done i was offered admission into Mait.
