Schlumberger visited my campus to hire full-timers this winter. It was conducting its recruitment process for both B.Tech and M.Tech students. Many profiles were there like Associate Software Engineer, Associate Cloud Engineer, Associate Data Engineer, Associate DevOps Engineer and Business Analyst. I applied for the Associate Data Engineer role and at this moment I will be discussing the process that I underwent during my recruitment:

So there were six rounds after the company shortlisted my CV.

Round 1: Coding and Aptitude

It was an online assessment round of 1 hour 10 mins with 61 questions. There were 60 MCQs related to aptitude, data structure, oops, RDBMS, and 1 coding question. Questions were from basic, easy to medium-level questions and were doable. Time was an important factor.

Round 2: Telephonic Round

The other day I received a call wherein I was asked basic things about my hobbies and background. It was a basic communication check round.

[ I qualified for the interview round. All the interview(s) took place within 1.5 days. I got to know that I had another interview 1 hour before that respective round ].

Round 3: Technical Interview

It was scheduled the next day and I received a mail from the company for the same. It was 30 mins30-minuteg interview which was a technical discussion. I was asked about things like :

They asked me to introduce myself, asked about my internships and told me to explain in detail what I made and what problem it solved. Then I was asked what subjects I studied in college and what were my preferred coding languages. I was asked some basic coding questions and then they asked me basic SQL queries. They also gave me situation-based questions.

I was then asked what I knew about the company and was also asked whether I had any questions for them.

Round 4: Technical Interview – II

Within 2 hours of the 1st Technical Round – I I received a mail and a call regarding this round. It was also of 30 minutes duration. I was asked about things like:

  • Where are you from?
  • Tell me about your projects. Describe the work you did during those projects.
  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
  • What are technologies you are interested in and what you would like to learn now?
  • What are your hobbies? Is it just for the sake of being on a CV?

As one of my projects was related to machine learning he asked me what all technologies I used and why I took a particular step and what I could do to make it better.

Since I was a part of two different internship programmes under two different companies I was asked which company I would like to work for and why keeping in mind my future development.

  • Do I miss the business aspect of a role?
  • What subjects do I have and which were my favourites?
  • SDLC models.
  • Basic questions related to data structures were asked. Some people also got to code or show implementations on data structure questions.
  • Do you have any questions for me?

Round 5: HR Interview

Within 2 hours of the 2nd Technical Round – II, I received a mail and a call regarding this round. It was also 30 minutes duration. I was asked about my projects and basic HR questions and whether I was willing to relocate to the organization’s assigned location.

Round 6: Management Interview

It was a behavioural round and communication, projects and behaviour-related questions will be asked.

I got selected at the end of all the rounds.
