The journey from high school to college is a pivotal moment in a student’s life. It’s a time filled with decisions, aspirations, and dreams. My journey from Narayana Junior College in Ongole to pursuing a specialized course in AIML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) at Pace Institute of Technology has been a roller-coaster ride, filled with choices, challenges, and determination.

The Decision to Pursue AIML

Upon completing my intermediate education at Narayana Junior College in Ongole, I faced the significant decision of choosing my undergraduate course. I have always been fascinated by the world of technology, especially artificial intelligence and machine learning. After conducting extensive research on potential courses, I decided that AIML was my calling. This field offered a promising future, and its applications across various industries intrigued me.

The Entrance Exam Conundrum

To secure a seat in a reputable B.Tech college offering AIML, I needed to clear the entrance exam. However, I faced a significant obstacle—I had no prior knowledge of the entrance exam syllabus or preparation strategies. Undaunted, I decided to take the plunge and attempted the exam, essentially starting from scratch. To my surprise, I managed to secure a seat in the Integrated M.Tech program at VIT AP.

The Integrated M.Tech Advantage

The Integrated M.Tech program at VIT AP was a five-year endeavour that included both a B.Tech and an M.Tech degree. The key distinction was that I could complete my B. Tech in just three years, followed by a two-year M.Tech program. This saved me a valuable year compared to the traditional route of pursuing a four-year B.Tech followed by a two-year M.Tech. Additionally, the career prospects and packages associated with AIML were highly attractive.

Exploring VIT AP

To assess my potential new home for the next five years, my father and I visited VIT AP. The college’s impressive infrastructure and well-maintained hostels left a positive impression on us. The institution appeared to be a promising place for academic and personal growth.

The Setback

Unfortunately, despite my initial acceptance into VIT AP, I encountered an unexpected setback. I couldn’t pay the admission fee on time, resulting in the cancellation of my seat.

The AP EAMCET Lifeline

With my dream of studying AIML at VIT AP seemingly dashed, I realized I had one last chance to make my aspirations a reality—the Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET). I diligently prepared for the exam, but my rank wasn’t as high as I had hoped, landing at approximately 59,960.

The Silver Lining

In the face of adversity, I persevered. I researched colleges that aligned with my rank and course preferences. Eventually, the counselling process began, and I secured a seat at Pace Institute of Technology in the AIML stream. It wasn’t my initial plan, but it was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to miss.

Conclusion

My journey from Narayana Junior College in Ongole to pursuing AIML at Pace Institute of Technology has been filled with twists and turns. Although I faced setbacks along the way, I remained determined to chase my passion for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Sometimes, the path we envision may change, but it’s essential to adapt and make the most of the opportunities that come our way. I’m excited to embark on this new chapter in my academic journey and look forward to the adventures and knowledge that await me at Pace Institute of Technology.
