I finished my class 12 at Gurukul Academy School in Lucknow, UP with a 95 percent score. For this achievement, I was featured in the Lucknow newspaper as the first in my school. I took several college entrance exams, including IIT JEE, where I scored 94.5 percentile with AIR 48992, CUET, and VITEEE, where I secured a rank of 22526. I didn’t participate in the JOSA counseling and opted for VIT counseling, where I secured admission under fee category 1 in the BTECH CSE Core course for 4 years.

I was excited when I joined college in September 2022. I vividly recall the faculty and some students volunteering during the freshmen’s hostel room allocation and providing assistance as needed. My sister accompanied me to help settle into the college hostel, staying in the guest house for a day before departing. I also remember my first flight from Delhi to VIT AP in Amaravati to reach the college. My sister equipped me with bathroom essentials, a mattress, bed sheets, snacks, and some stationery.

In the initial days, we attended orientation sessions in the college auditorium to understand how our courses would be conducted, emphasizing the need to complete the required 150 credits in 4 years. The placement records and other curriculum details were also presented. It was an insightful session that instilled a sense of responsibility, signaling the transition to an independent life away from home for studies.

Soon after, our classes commenced, with hostellers having sessions from 8 am to 8 pm with scheduled breaks. My daily routine revolved around hostel meals at designated times, maintaining a minimum 80% attendance, and adhering to the freshmen rule diligently. I shared a two-bedroom in the hostel with a student from Hyderabad.

In my first semester, I was academically focused, studying and socializing with friends from diverse regions like Assam, Odisha, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Manipur, Bihar, and more. The semester concluded with a technical fest named VTAPP, and I ended with a CGPA of 9.55. Returning home for the semester break was a delightful experience after four months in the hostel.

During the course registration for the second semester, I started learning Canva and web development. This semester included subjects common to all engineering branches in the first year. I excelled in OOPS in Java and Python. The semester ended with the cultural fest VITOPIA, featuring a stand-up comedy show by Akash Gupta and a concert by Twin Strings. I completed my first year with a CGPA of 9.55.

Currently, I am in my third semester or sophomore year. I completed course registration, no longer a freshman. This semester includes core subjects crucial for placement. Despite the challenges, I aim to perform well. I also started going to the gym, balancing academic and personal growth. I began learning CANVA, FIGMA, and Javascript and focused on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA), an essential subject for placements. I practice DSA on GeeksForGeeks, earning a GFG official T-shirt for completing the Problem Of The Day section for 100 consecutive days.

We follow a grading system here with CAT1, CAT2, and FAT exams, along with internals/assignments. The exams are a bit challenging after it won’t be as easy as the school exams are. As my third semester concludes on December 11, 2023, I anticipate a short winter break afterward.

In short, I am a sophomore at VIT-AP University. The faculties are good, well-qualified and supportive too. They support you to participate in other activities and give you time for this. When it comes to the course curriculum, the courses are according to the industry requirements, and you need 40% in each subject to pass the semesters. I connected with my seniors to enquire about the placement scenario at my college. To my relief, the response was mostly positive. The highest package grabbed by our seniors is currently 35 LPA at an IT firm. Companies like Express, Wipro, TCS, Limca, and many other known companies come for placement drives. It is a decent college and the placement graph is also improving every year. It’s great for post-graduation and Ph.D. with students coming from all over the globe with different languages and cultures. We have several events every Saturday with dance, music, comedy, and a lot more entertaining acts. There are two festivals conducted every year, VTAPP the Tech Fest, and VITOPIA the greatest cultural fest.
