Hello Geeks,

I’m a student in my second year at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NIT Durgapur. Here I’d like to share my experience of the campus during this whole year.

I was in delusion during time of the results of the engineering entrances, which college should I choose. Save this topic for a different article let’s focus on the chosen topic.

So, I entered in college on 14th November 2022. Being a National college NIT helped me to meet a lot of people around the country. I was never been away from my home so it was a new experience for me to start the hostel life. I made a lot of new friends, got two awesome roommates, and started the hostel life in full bloom.

Then eventually the classes started. As the first year share the common syllabus for all branches, it becomes quite boring as you learn the same things you’ve learned during +2. Labs were cool as you’ll find your lab mates and hang in there through the end-sem viva and practicals together with them.

Then comes the fests in college. We have two major fests in our campus. The tech fest Aarohan and the cultural fest Recstacy. Both were awesome. We were the first batch after covid to experience both of them as these were canceled during the pandemic. It was a great experience indeed. We enjoyed the performance of Mr. Vishal Mishra in Recstasy. Other than him some famous artists also came during these fests. Also, we had some minor fests as well. Iqlipse Nova visited our campus some days back. There’s a highlight for all the coders out there this year Striver(Raj Vikramaditya) visited our campus. We were really lucky to have an interactive session with him.

Our college has a rich club culture where you can find all kinds of clubs, from tech to cultural. There are mainly two clubs for coding one promotes CP, named Recursion and the other one promotes dev and open source, named GNU/Linux User’s Group. Other than that we have an IEEE student branch here as well. There are a total of 20+ clubs that offers various domains and holds like-minded people.

With this, I want to end this article. I have a lot more to say but the article will be too long. All and all this one-year experience was great at my campus and I’m looking forward to the upcoming years.
