I will be completing my graduation in 2024 from RAIT, DYPU in Nerul, Navi Mumbai where I pursued B.Tech in Information Technology Branch. When I sum up everything, my experience at college was pretty decent and filled with ups and downs at various stages due to the coronavirus pandemic. I did not get to attend college for half of the part of the curriculum but the few years I spent there were filled with new experiences and learnings at each step.

About the campus:

There are various departments/disciplines (Medical, Engineering, Dental,…etc) into which the university campus is divided. It has both solar-powered panels and big generator houses for electric backup. Modern classrooms, laboratories decked with all required instruments, and a seating area more famous as RAIT circle, two massive millennial sports clubs, a huge fully functional cricket stadium, two football grounds, Sachin Tendulkar’s Middle-Sex Sports Adacemy, massive library, training and placement organization and two campus canteens both serving finger licking delicacies from around the world. You name it, the campus has it all, even hospitals.

My First-Year and Second-Year(till sem 3rd) Experience:

My first year and half of the second year were completely online, I had very few friends at that time and managed to connect with professors who helped me square with. I got limited opportunities to study related to my curriculum as of online mode. I developed an interest in Data Structures and algorithms eventually and then started to solve problems on my own under teachers’ guidance virtually. The teachers were very supportive and taught even the most difficult subjects in the easiest manner possible. The labs were scheduled once the session was completely offline. Weekly Q&A sessions were held when lecturers answered each student’s questions personally. Each student also received one-on-one support from their assigned mentors, which aided them in both their academic and extracurricular activities.

Second-Year(from sem 4th) and Third-Year Experience:

The sem 4th and third-year classes were mostly offline as pandemic effects started to reduce later on. Gradually we all adapted to the new changes and made offline learning our thing once again, after a long break. We had our exams in both offline and online mode at the very initial stage which helped the students from around the world to easily take the exams.I got to learn a lot from teachers and everyone in the faculty were very nice to us.

We found it slightly hard to copeup as the transition was difficult from online to offline learning. All the teachers were always willing to thoroughly revise the concepts taught online which helped students to score well even if that was their first offline engineering exam. The third year ended pretty well as it was choked with hectic schedules of projects, exams, fests, and many more larger-than-life events. Hackathons were my favorite amongst them.

Final Year Experience:

During the final year, the lectures are kept off to help students study for placements, and here’s when the training and placement cell comes to students’ rescue. It is now the placement season and all the final-year students are a bit worried and more of confident. The teachers and mentors are continuously striving to help the students prepare for placements and enroll in the training programs. The last semester(7th sem) was spent mostly in placement preparations and students were allowed to skip classes to attend the training and internship programs. I am very glad as I am writing this article for Geeks For Geeks (GFG) and I will be ending my final year soon with flying colors.
