There was one coding test on the do-select platform and two rounds of interviews.

It was open only CSE + MnC ( B,tech + IDD )

Coding test:

It has three coding questions and 10 CS fundamentals MCQ and 25-30 MCQ aptitude questions.

  • Aptitude questions were normal – difficult were solvable.
  • CS fundamentals were normal and easy-medium level
  • Coding questions were medium type and could be well done in the allotted time.

Each section had a specific allotted time, and you can’t return to another section once submitted.

Interviews:

Most of the students who did three coding questions all most of the MCQs right were shortlisted for interviews. They also saw if CPI was <8.5, then they were not shortlisted.

I was shortlisted for interviews.

Navi was Day 1 slot 0.

Round 1:

Duration: 35-40 minutes approx.

My interviews were one of the first ones as I had only one shortlist in 1-0. So, the interviewer began with my resume and talked about intern work at Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore. We discussed the Django project and the features included in my project. He asked me about a few situational problems that they encountered working in Navi…they were only required to be answered by your thought process and were completely out-of-the-box.

He asked me about a DSA problem; we need to find the median of the stream of running integers. A well-known standard problem that is solved using a priority queue. I was able to answer it.

He jumped onto his “Have you worked with encryptions” So, I mentioned the Django project where auth is used for authentication, which uses encrypted passwords? So, he continued and asked, “Is encryption a good way to store passwords”.So, whatever knowledge I had, I just described that… about encryption technique and encryption algorithms…it was quite absurd question….then I also mentioned RSA and SHA 256 algorithms.

The interviewer seemed impressed, and the interview ended with a handshake.

Round 2:

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a call-up for round 2 despite a good round 1.

Navi’s hiring was very absurd and very unsystematic, at least what I felt. After round 1, we were told that Navi has only 1 round, and they will roll out the final offers at the end of the slot. Then, some of them had their round 2 scheduled..some whose round 1 was good…and some whose round 1 was not good. It was tough to deal with those emotions at that time.

Soon after 7-8 candidates gave round 2..we were informed that only those whose round 2 is taken are in the probable of final offers… so the rest of them can go and give other interviews or wait for the next slot.

About 14 -15 offers were given.. ten were accepted, and 3-4 were rejected due to multiple offers.

[Navi is a very good startup to kickstart ur career, actually with a heavy amount of money they are paying for new hires.]
