About College

MNNIT Allahabad was established as one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges of India in the year 1961 as a joint enterprise of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh and was an associated college of the University of Allahabad, which is the third oldest university in India. The Institute has been granted the status of institution of national importance on 15.08.2007. The institute offers various B.tech, M.tech, and Ph.D. programs.

To get admission to the college, students need to pass a highly competitive exam called JEE (Joint entrance exam ). This exam helps in getting admissions to various NIT’s AND IIT’s. Once students qualify the exam the JEE exam they must participate in a centralized counseling process led by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). In this counseling session, students can choose their desired courses and colleges based on their rank and eligibility. I got MNNIT Allahabad CSE in counseling.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to College, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  1. Education: Candidates should have completed their 10+2 examination or an equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.
  2. Minimum Percentage: Candidates must have obtained a minimum percentage as specified by the college. (75% overall).
  3. Entrance Exam Score: Candidates should score above 95 %ile in JEE exam,(relaxation given to those candidates of reserved categories).
  4. The candidates should give JEE exam within two years of passing the 12th.

Counselling Process

There are six rounds of the counseling process, which are organized by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). You should take decisions and place your priority list of colleges along with the branches, you have to take decisions wisely and accordingly.

In the first round itself if you get your desired college then you can accept it, if you don’t get it then you can accept and upgrade and wait for further rounds. If you don’t get whatever you desired till the last round, you would have to accept whatever you got or reject it. Luckily I got into MNNIT Allahabad CSE, the college which I desired and I am very happy about it.

Important documents

First of all, after getting to the college, you would have to submit all necessary documents in the college website and do the online registration. Then during the physical registration, you need to be present at college with all the documents. The following documents are mostly asked during the physical verification:

  7. Character certificate
  8. Aadhar card
  9. Passport

  11. Your category certificate
  12. Your health certificate

Physical Admission Experience

I went to Allahabad from Orissa via train, it was quite an amazing journey. Later from the station we directly went to MNNIT where the admission process was taking place in the MP hall. We had already done the online registration and we got a token no, based on the token no we were standing in a queue.

On the first two days of admission, only CSE students were allowed, later on for further days rest of the branch students were allowed. I went in the afternoon, till afternoon the MP hall was crowded the students who came in the morning got allotted their hostels early. I stood in the queue, but none of the parents were allowed to stand in the queue, I was feeling afraid because this was the first time when I will be dealing with the documentation process myself. When my turn came whatever documents they were asking, I was submitting them one by one.

After the verification process was done they sent me to another queue, where the registration number was being given ( registration no is the special identity of each student ). I was given my registration no then I went to the hostel allotment queue, after I was allotted my hostel they sent me to the fees deposit queue. After submitting the fees, at last, the physical admission was completed. In this process many of the people became my friends, I talked with many of the people and came to know a lot of stuff from them. I also came to know how administrations work.

Conclusion

Overall the college admission experience was full of nervousness and excitement but I really enjoyed the process and it also made me responsible. It was also the marking of a great beginning in the prominent institution. I am looking for further opportunities to come to the college, I hope these four years in the college be the best years of my life.
