HSBC Interview Experience (On-Campus)

Securing a job at a prestigious organization like HSBC is a dream for many aspiring students. Recently, I had the opportunity to go through the rigorous interview process at HSBC, and I would like to share my experience with you.

Round 1: Online Test

The HSBC interview process began with an on-campus examination. The first round was an online test comprising multiple-choice questions covering various subjects such as aptitude, technical knowledge, verbal ability, and reasoning skills. This round aimed to assess the fundamental abilities and problem-solving skills of the candidates.

Round 2: Coding Round

After successfully clearing the online test, I proceeded to the second round, which was the coding round. The coding questions presented in this round were relatively easy to medium in difficulty level. The purpose of this round was to evaluate the coding proficiency and logical thinking of the candidates. It provided an opportunity to showcase our programming skills and problem-solving capabilities.

Round 3: Value-Based Assessment Round

The third round of the HSBC interview process was the value-based assessment round. This round gauged the alignment of the candidates’ values with HSBC’s core principles and ethics. It assessed our ability to make ethical decisions and work collaboratively in diverse teams. This round allowed HSBC to identify candidates who would fit well within the organization’s culture and uphold its values.

Round 4: Technical Round

The fourth round was the interview round, which was undoubtedly the most crucial part of the entire process. I was greeted by a friendly interviewer who made me feel comfortable throughout the conversation. The interviewer carefully reviewed my resume and asked me specific questions about my projects, focusing on my role and contributions. Additionally, the interviewer delved into my knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) and asked me to write a SQL query, demonstrating my understanding of database operations.

To assess my programming skills further, the interviewer requested me to write code for reversing a linked list. This question tested my ability to manipulate data structures and implement algorithms efficiently. The interviewer not only evaluated the correctness of my solution but also considered the clarity of my code and my problem-solving approach.

Suggestion: I would suggest doing practice from sites like GeeksforGeeks, Indiabix, etc. as it will give the confidence to solve problems. Below is the SDE sheet link which will help you in most of the interviews.

ROUND 5: HR ROUND

The final round of the HSBC interview process was the HR round. This round primarily involved a background check to ensure the authenticity of the information provided by the candidates. Additionally, a few fundamental questions were asked to assess our knowledge of industry-related concepts and gauge our level of preparedness for the role.

Overall, my HSBC interview experience was both challenging and rewarding. The organization’s well-structured interview process enabled them to evaluate candidates thoroughly and identify the most suitable individuals for their team. The friendly and professional demeanor of the interviewers made the experience less daunting and more engaging.

TIP: For anyone preparing for an HSBC interview or a similar process, I would recommend focusing on brushing up on technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. It is essential to showcase your ability to work in teams, communicate effectively, and align with the values and principles upheld by the organization.
