Step 1: Create a Discord server

Otherwise, Open the Discord application on your desktop or access it via its website and click on the “+” icon on the left sidebar to create a new server.

Now select the option “Create My Own” and the select “For Club or community” as many users will join this server. Now name your server as you want and done. You have successfully created a discord server.

Step 2: Open Server settings

Click on the dropdown sign available right to the name of your server and click on that which will open different options for the server. Click on the “Server Settings” button to get access to server settings.

Step 3: Open “Server Subscription”

Once the settings menu opens up, you can see all the different customizations that you can apply for your discord server. Explore the options and change things if you want. The option which we are looking for here is on the left sidebar, scroll down to the “Monetization” section where you will see a button named “Server Subscription” click on that.

Step 4: Configure Server subscription

Now, sadly if you are from India, you cannot monetize your discord server for now.

You can fill up the form by clicking “sign up for updates” button to get updates about the monetization updates.

Now if you are someone who belongs to other location that supports discord subscription, you get to configure 4 options in the server under subscription tab. Which are,

    1. Basic Info:

    Here you can specify the exclusivity level for your channel which has options as “Some channels as exclusive” and “Whole server as exclusive” choose the one which suits your requirements. Better to go with ” Some channels as exclusive” as you can get all type of audience in your server. You can also add Description for your channel and Cover photo for your channel.

    2. Tiers:

    Now Tiers defines the level of access one user has on your discord server. You can define role and their access to premium emoji and voice or chat channels. Click on create new tier to create a new tier.

    Name the tier and set the pricing accordingly. You can add description for the tier and change the font and theme as per your choice for the particular tier. If you have already defined roles for your server you can add them according to tier and once done, move to the next section.

    3. Emoji

    If you use platforms like twitch, then the concept of premium emoji not new for you. Now we can also get to see the feature of premium emoji in YouTube also. When a user will take your discord server subscription, only they can get access to the emoji’s that are restricted to use for all other users. You can set up-to 25 emojis as premium emoji.

    4. Payment

    On the payment tab you access to see our total revenue generated and total number of active members and other details like upcoming payments. Click on the edit payment info button which will open a new tab for you where you select the payment gateway like PayPal through which you will receive your payments and all set.

    Remember Discord takes 10% of the revenue you generate, so you will get the rest 90%. You can see the completion check box on the right hand side, make sure to complete all before you send your link out for people to join. You can check how your page look to users by clicking on the preview button.

    Step 5: Share Joining Link

    After you configure all of these, now it’s time for people to join your discord server. Click on the invite people button displaying under your server’s name to invite people to your server.

    This open dialog box where you can see all your friends on discord, you can ask to join your server by clicking on the “Invite” button. You also get a link for invitation to your server which you can share to others via other social media platforms and email to invite them in your discord server. As we have declared some features as premium, so everyone will be able to join the server but to use premium emoji, chat and voice channels they have to take a subscription.
