BlueOptima visited our campus during the month of July 2021. The interview experiences were different for Java Developer roles and UI Developer roles. I applied for the UI Developer using JavaScript role.

Round 1: Online Assessment

The online test was conducted on the HackerEarth platform (3 hours), it consisted of 30 MCQs and 3 coding questions. The MCQs were based on fundamentals of Frontend Development and Aptitude, the coding questions were about developing a UI having some functionality as specified.

Round 2: Technical Interview

7 students got shortlisted, the interview started with a brief introduction to the company.
The interview then asked various questions on

  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JS
  • Version Control
  • System Design

Varying from easy to medium, and then ended with two live coding questions where I had to develop the UI or add some functionality.

Some of the topics asked – Flexbox, Grid, alt tag, prototypes, var, let, const, selectors in CSS, etc

Round 3: Work Sample Round

4 students got shortlisted for the next round.

This was the most interesting experience as we were given a problem statement and had to provide a working solution in a week’s time. It was about building a component with the specified functionality and providing appropriate documentation for the same. We were free to use any framework we were comfortable with.

After a week, the company assessed the submissions and shortlisted 2 students further for another discussion on the work sample.

In the interview, I mostly had to explain the approach followed, they provided feedback and if any errors were found then they asked me to fix them right away on the call.

Final Result: Selected
