Amazon Interview Experience for SDE Intern (On-Campus)

This was an on-campus drive conducted by Amazon on late August 2023, they came looking for two roles 6-month SDE Internship for the 2023 batch for locations Hyderabad and Bangalore.

In this post, I will talk only about the Summer Intern role as I appeared for the OA and interviewed for the same.

Part 1:-OA Round:

• There were 3 coding questions and we are given 2 hrs for those. Those questions are like leetcode medium. I’ve solved 3 out of 3.
• cleared.

After a day I was notified that I had cleared the OA round.

Part 2:-1st Technical Interview Round:(1 hour)

• Introduction
• Longest Substring without repeating Characters
• Number of Island
• Try to answer all questions using the STAR principle and keeping Amazon’s Leadership Principles in mind.

After 1/2 days I was notified that I had cleared the 1st interview.

2nd Technical Interview Round:(1 .5 hours)

• Introduction
• Count pairs with given sum
• Rearrange Merge two sorted linked lists
• Same here, Try to answer all questions using the STAR principle and keeping Amazon’s Leadership Principles in mind.
• Discussed a lit bit about my projects and the tech stack used.

Verdict: Not Selected

The interview process was smooth, and the difficulty level is medium. Though that depends on person to person. The interviewer was very kind, they will help if you are stuck anywhere and will give hints if you are unable to sort out anything. They mostly focused on the approach you are giving and the way you are presenting.
They follow their Amazon Leadership Principles a lot, so try to answer everything using those principles and in the STAR pattern.

Conclusion: Keep a habit of practicing regularly, the interview will have questions that you would have never practiced before and all you’ll have to do is think of the solution in a finite time or this might lead to your rejection. Stay calm during the entire interview as the interviewer can sense that you are getting nervous and won’t leave any scope to add fuel to that fire of anxiety and nervousness.
