I am pursuing an Integrated MTech in Computer Science Engineering (Specialized in Artificial Intelligence ) from Vellore Institute of Technology, Bhopal. I am in my second year of college, and overall it’s going okay, but the environment of this college is alarming in so many ways. VIT(Vellore Institute of Technology) has 4 branches, this branch in Bhopal is the newest and construction is going on everywhere around the college. I have completed 3 semesters and one of the semesters was taken online. For the 2021 batch, it’s exhausting, because most of their semesters were taken online and it’s still going on online.

VIT gives admission to students beyond its capacity. In VIT Bhopal, the construction of hostels and Academic buildings is going on. However, they are still allocating a huge number of students and they are sending back specific batches of students home for online classes for next semester. Even though they are giving admissions to lots of students, only 20% of the students are getting placed from the VIT Bhopal branch.

About the Campus:

The Campus currently has only one academic block (construction of another one is going on), two other lab complexes, two girls’ hostel buildings (construction is still going on for another one), five boys’ hostel buildings, a basketball court, labs, grounds, two food stores, one stationary store, one general store. Indoor games are available inside the hostels. The campus is said to have 250 acres but most of the land here is used for agriculture, so there is only limited space for students to hang out around the campus.

First-Year Experience:

My first year was offline, college life was peaceful and interesting in the first year. We selected our faculties through FFCS(a fully flexible credit system). We get to know the environment of college (how things work here). Since the college was famous and located in the middle of India, there were students from every part of India, this made the first year more interesting since we got to know the diversity. We did not have many coding subjects in the first year, just the basics and continuation of the 12th standard.

Second-Year Experience:

My second year of college is still going on and I completed one semester and started a new one a few days back. This time, we didn’t get the chance to select our faculties as there was some server breakdown. It was a rush in the previous semester as the faculties had a time limit to complete the portions and this caused so much pressure on us to complete the projects, and presentations in a rush at the last minute.
