Oracle came for recruitment in our college during the month of July for the position of Associate Software Engineer/Associate Application Developer under GBU. The cut-off was 7 CGPA above and all the branches were allowed to sit for this recruitment drive. Around 600+ students were eligible for the online test

There were a total of 4 rounds, 1 was an online test and 3 rounds of Technical and HR Interviews (It was conducted in offline mode at the college premises).

ROUND 1: Online Test :

  • It mainly comprised 20 MCQs and 2 coding question which was conducted on the HackerRank platform and the duration was 120 mins. MCQs were divided into three parts-
  1. Aptitude Test (Common Aptitude questions).
  2. English Test (Basic Vocabulary and Comprehension).
  3. Coding Part – Comprised of questions based on subsequences ( Level-medium) and the other question was based on REST API

(I would suggest having a good knowledge of REST APIs if you sit for this role).

There were no negative markings and one should be able to solve as many questions as they can within the given time limit.

Around 47 students were shortlisted from the pool of 600+ applicants after one month of waiting.

ROUND 2 : Technical Interview (30 mins) :

  • The interviewer was friendly and she started with a basic introduction of herself and then mine. Then she asked me about my projects and experiences ( Your CV plays a very important role in Oracle Interviews and you should be careful about what you write in your CV since they go to depth of every projects and internship experiences you have mentioned)
  • She asked me about my how my project aligns with real-world and also, what features of OOPs you have implemented in your projects.
  • Then asked me questions on the concepts of OOPs. What are the four pillars of OOPs and some basic question based on the programming languages I have mentioned.
  • She then asked me to code a question : Check if the string is palindrome or not . I explained the logic and was asked to dry run the code with given example.
  • Lastly, she asked me a basic HR question.

The interviewer was very calm and cool. Then we were asked to wait outside the interview room until we are called for the 2nd round ( Note : It was an elimination round).

ROUND 3 : Technical + HR (30 mins) :

Once again it started with a basic introduction about himself and then mine after which we jumped to the technical part

  • This round was mainly focused on my projects and I didn’t get any DSA questions in this round ( whereas some of my friends had coding questions).
  • He asked me to briefly explain each of my projects , it real world implementation and how it can be useful in future. (As I mentioned CV plays an important role in interviews ). He asked some more questions on my projects and the moved to HR ones
  • Some HR questions were : Where do you see yourself in 3 years?

What are your strengths and weakness?

The interviewer was very nice and friendly and again we were asked to wait for the 3rd round ( this round was also an elimination round).

ROUND 4 : Technical (30 mins):

  • The interview was quite difficult and the interviewer was an highly experienced person
  • He asked me How I was feeling and how were the previous interviews.
  • He started with questions like What were the challenges did you face in your entire 3 years of B.Tech Course. How did you manage to overcome those.
  • He then asked me questions on System Design and questions related to my projects.
  • The entire interview was generally focused on question from System Design related to my projects.
  • He also asked me questions from Networks like what is Cache in concept of Networks etc.
  • Lastly , he asked me what you will do if you have no tension and stress in your entire life and what are your future plans and do you have any questions for me?

My interview ended and the results were declared by midnight. I didn’t get selected though but the interviews helped me gain confidence and the experience was amazing.

My Suggestions :

  1. Try your best in 1st round and always be confident about yourself. Have a smile on your face and don’t be scared.
  2. Focus on your basics
  3. Practice as much as you can especially DSA.
  4. Be Clear with your CS Fundamentals.
