There were 3 rounds of selection:

  • Online Round
  • Technical interview
  • HR interview

Online Round:

The round was around 1 hour and 30 minutes long and had multiple-choice questions. No coding questions were asked. The Online Round can be divided into 2 parts:

  1.  Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability – Easy questions were asked on quantitative aptitude from topics like pattern recognition, missing numbers, AP, GP, etc. Medium-level reading comprehension questions were asked.
  2.  Technical Aptitude: Questions were asked about topics like machine learning, network security, and cloud computing. Additionally, general questions were asked about data structures, C++, Java, Python, Database, OOPS, and OS/(UNIX).

Technical Interview:

The technical interview was between 20-30 minutes long and the interviewer was an Associate SDE with 12 years of experience. We began with a general question about the company (tell me about Optum) and then had a good discussion about the project. She asked about the tech stack and libraries being used. Additionally, she asked me about the problems encountered and errors that occurred during the project, as well as the Debugging tools (Inspect Element in Web Browser) that I used to resolve them. Next, she shifted to DSA and asked basic questions about arrays and linked lists, such as the time complexity of insertion, searching, and comparing both in terms of memory. At the end, there was a question from OOPS about constructors.

HR Interview:

It took around 5-10 minutes for the HR interview to be conducted. They asked about the company as well as the location of the offices in India. Additionally, he asked about my co-curricular activities.

Following are some standard tips everyone should follow:

  • A crisp and informative intro should be given to enhance your first impression. This will also increase your self-confidence.
  • Be calm and slow in your answers so that you have time to think before you say something that might ruin your interview.
  • The dry run should be presented in a descriptive manner. It shows how well you understand both the algorithm and the problem.
  • Be ready with some HR questions and read the company’s about page in advance. Always ask questions after the interview. This shows your interest in the company.
  • Lastly, carry a decent smile with you throughout the interview.
