Hello folks, ! Participating and cracking competitive exams has always been driving and pushing me off my limits. The main stages involved in any competitive exam journey included engaging in rigorous study sessions, practicing intricate problem-solving techniques, and embracing the art of time management.

Through this article, I would like to share one of my first ever competitive exams I ever attended in my life just after my 10th boards. as the name suggests, the Joint Entrance Examination for Polytechnics(JEXPO) exam was an entry-level examination for polytechnic institutions which allows students to skip 11th-12th higher secondary and get directly into professional college courses for diploma degrees.

Understanding the Format:-

  • The duration of exam was a total of 2 hours for 100 questions.
  • The total question paper included 100 multiple choice questions where the candidates has to collect the correct answer among four given options.
  • The questions were mainly based on problem solving skills and basic understanding of the subject.
  • The exam was mainly based on these three subjects :-
    • Mathematics – 50 marks
    • Physics – 25 marks
    • Chemistry – 25 marks
  • Each correct answer allotted 1 marks and each wrong answer deducted 0.25 mark.
  • Candidates are provided with an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) answer sheet. They need to mark their answers by darkening the appropriate circles using a pencil or pen, as per the instructions.
  • The syllabus for JEXPO exam included elementary Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry of the 10th standard.

Preparation strategies:-

  • Understand the Syllabus: Analyzing the weightage of subjects and chapters and understanding the JEXPO syllabus can help you save a lot of time and focus on important chapters.
  • Study Material: Gather the necessary study materials, including textbooks, reference books, notes, and previous years’ question papers. High-quality study material helps in understanding concepts better.
  • Practice Regularly: Solving a variety of problems from each subject on a regular basis enhances problem-solving skills and increases familiarity with the types of questions appearing in the exam.
  • Previous Years Questions(PYQs): Solving previous year question papers helps analyzing the question pattern, difficulty level, and question types that are frequently asked in the exam.
  • Time Management: Managing time during the exam by practicing time-bound solving of questions helps a lot to deal with real-time exam situations and time-bound examinations like thus.
  • Analyze Performance: After practicing papers, analyzing performance helps improve and avoids making silly mistakes. Identifying mistakes and recognizing areas of improvement helps fine-tune preparation strategy.
