After 10th choosing science as a stream, the dilemma of choosing a career option began and I extended it over by opting to appear for JEE exam. While choosing the option with P&C, it is a no-brainer for me because Bio never liked me. Hence, “The JEE journey” started when Half of the 11th was gone I was confused but finally made a decision and I decided to take Jee coaching which was surely online due to lockdown.

The rest of the 11th is wasted due to inappropriate decisions and mistakes. With the start of class 12th, I slowly understood the nature of this exam and what it demanded. But being consistent was the real challenge, I always tried to give my best every day but due to improper strategy and irregular study patterns my preparation was not that good.

Finally, exams came first Jee mains and then Jee adv and I scored a par score in both but was not able to qualify for Jee adv, this was a great setback for me. That day I was totally upset with myself, the way I performed and the efforts I had given the efforts should have been high. I regretted my actions and failure. However, I decided to improve this JEE chapter and take lessons from the mistakes that I previously made.

So, I decided to take a drop. I was supported for this decision by my family and it was a boost at that time. I continued with the online platform instead of offline coaching because now I was compatible with the online environment. I made changes to my study plan and figured out my weak areas in the syllabus. One thing I learned from this is that “Problem-solving” is the most important aspect of strengthening a topic followed by a regular revision schedule.

In my opinion, JEE especially ADV demands absolute clarification of concept and have deep understanding of it. So an aspirant needs to give immense attention during theory classes and generally the starting classes of any chapter as once you develop interest in a topic, then the drive is natural. But things are not that easy and simple. JEE syllabus is quite vast and complicated from chapters with easy understanding and interesting to chapters full of tough terms and time demanding. Some chapters are so strange and typical that it is very difficult to build interest.

In drop year, I enjoyed my JEE days as I loved the struggle against problems and facing them daily with a smiling face. I studied topics with understanding not only with the sense of just scoring marks in it which made it easy to have a consistent schedule but again inconsistency is there. Some chapters in the syllabus are super-important mostly the foundation ones as many chapters were dependent on them. With a time full of ups and downs, the exam days came. I performed a decent score in mains and qualified jee advanced.

However, my rank was not enough to get admitted into IITs but I enrolled into NIT Raipur to pursue Electrical Engineering. It is a journey full of learning and improvements. After all, I would say this exam demands grittiness, patience and hard work and no matter whether you are god-gifted or not in the end effort matters whoever puts that in will surely succeed. The efforts should be given uniformly in each aspect be it strategy, problem solving or analysis. That’s all from my JEE journey, it is a memorable chapter of my life and I enjoyed every bit of it.
