How to Update PyCharm on Windows

Below are the steps by which we can update Pycharm

Step 1: Open PyCharm

Launch PyCharm on your computer.

Step 2: Check for Updates

  • Go to the “Help” menu at the top of the PyCharm window.
  • Select “Check for Updates…” from the dropdown menu.

A pop-up window will appear at the bottom right corner of the PyCharm window, indicating whether there are updates available. If you are already using the latest version, it will display a message confirming this.

If there are updates available, click on the “Update and Restart” button in the pop-up window. This will initiate the update process.

After clicking “Update and Restart,” another window will open. Click on the “Restart” button to proceed with the update.

Step 6: Windows Defender Prompt

In some cases, a Windows Defender or similar security software prompt may appear. If this happens, click “Yes” or approve the update to continue.

The update will start, and you will see a progress indicator. Once the update is complete, PyCharm will restart with the latest version installed.
