There are many possible reasons why the CD isn’t working for your printer such as the disc drive being broken (easily fixable by changing the driver for the disc), or even because printers can use different discs.

Install a Printer Without the Installation Disk

A computer with installed drivers for your printer, and either a USB cable or an Ethernet connection. Disable any antivirus and firewall software before continuing.

Step 1: With a computer and connected USB cable, use your printer’s CD to install it onto the computer. (the exact steps will vary depending on the type of CD you have)

Step 2: Using your computer and connected Ethernet cable, connect to the printer using 192.168.0.x IP address so that you can give it access via the browser which is often a blank page when you first connect, but if not then try an option such as 192.168.0.1 or similar, or try changing the port to 890 (firmware).

Step 3: If the browser is a blank page, do not enter anything yet. After connecting to your printer, you will need to use a small utility which you can find online. The instructions below are for Windows users.

Step 4: After installing the utility, run it and select the “list all devices” option.

Step 5: If your printer has been successfully connected to the computer using a USB cable or Ethernet cable, then it should show up in this list of devices and if not go back to the previous step:

Step 6: Find your drivers CD that came with your printer or installed drivers for your system before in step 1 and try installing them manually after clicking remove for any already installed drivers.

Step 7: The last things are to install the drivers for your computer, which are usually located on the CD and can be installed automatically using a utility like “Add Printer Wizard” (if you do not have such a utility, try looking for .exe file depending on what operating system you use).

Step 8: After finishing, use your printer and connect it to your computer. If all went well, then open any browser on your computer and go to 192.168.0.x IP address in order to see if it works (remember not to open anything yet).

Step 9: If all went well then you can now open up any browser on your computer and go to 192.168.0.x IP address in order to see if it works (remember not to open anything yet).

This is a tricky and not-so-simple way to install your printer if you do not have the installation CD, but for those who are stuck with this problem, we suggest that you give it a try as soon as possible because if you wait for too long, then your system’s disk could long since become empty or damaged. You can find more such solutions through online searches.

Configuration of the Printer on a Network:

Many people struggle with installing the printer without having the installation disk. You need to install the printer without an installation disk, but you still have to configure it for your network. Follow these steps in order to configure your printer for your network:

Step 1: Connect your computer, scanner, and/or another device that you are using with a USB cable or wireless NIC port.

Step 2: Plug in a power cord from an electrical outlet

Step 3: Find out what kind of network you are connected to by going directly into the settings areas on any of these devices

Step 4: Configure TCP/IP settings on one of those devices according to what kind of network you are connected to (bridge, router, etc.)

Installation of Printer Without Installation Disk:

Step 1: Turn on the printer.

Step 2: Do not connect it to the network yet.

Step 3: Attach the USB cable or wireless NIC port

Step 4: The procedure below assumes you’re connected to an Ethernet network, but similar steps can be taken for a wireless connection

Step 5: Hold down the Eject button

Step 6: The Printer should beep and ask if you want to remove it from the computer

Step 7: Select ‘yes’

Step 8: Once the printer has been removed from the computer, you’ll need to download and install a POST driver for your printer.
