Computers all over the world are connected by a huge global network called the Internet. People can share information and interact via the Internet from any location around the world. There are innumerable websites on the internet that may be accessed using various web browsers. These websites and web contents have been gathered in one location so that people may search and access the materials that match their queries. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Google Chrome, and others can be used to get and view the pages. The browser retrieves the requested page, decodes the text and formatting instructions on it, and then displays the page on the screen with the appropriate formatting.

Many individuals may find it strange that there are two locations where you can place the contents of your website i.e., WWW or Pubilc_HTML. There are some similarities between both WWW and Public_HTML, but there are also some distinctions too.

What is WWW?

The World Wide Web, also referred to as the web or just WWW, is an acronym. It is a project that Timothy Berner Lee started in 1989 to help researchers at CERN collaborate productively. It is a giant client-server system with several servers dispersed throughout the globe. The web is a massive, global network of documents or web pages. Each website contains one or more documents known collectively as web pages. Links to other pages anywhere in the world may be found on each page. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Google Chrome, and others can be used to get and view the pages. The browser retrieves the requested page, decodes the text and formatting instructions on it, and then displays the page on the screen with the appropriate formatting.

Specific documents are maintained on each server, and the preserved documents are stored as files. The requested document is delivered by servers to the client when In response to a user clicking on a line of text that links to a page on the geeksforgeeks.org server, the browser requests the page from the geeksforgeeks.org server by sending a message to the server. The browser will show web content on the client system when the server accepts the request.

The World Wide Web (WWW) primarily consists of three components: Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), and Uniform Resource Locator (URL). While HTTP specifies the communication between a browser and a server and HTML specifies the structure, organization, and content of a webpage, URL serves as a system for resources on the internet.

What is Public_HTML?

A public folder called Public_HTML can be found on every web hosting account. It is the directory on the webserver that stores all of the HTML-based documents on the internet. The public_HTML folder is the web root for your primary domain name. This means that the folder public_HTML is where you place all of the website files that you want to show up when someone types in your main domain. The Public HTML folder is accessible via the File Manager in your cPanel. For instance, if you have a file called home.html in the public_HTML folder, it will display that page.

The public_HTML folder must have 0750 permissions.
Within the public_HTML folder every folder should consist of 0755 permissions.
Every file inside the public_html folder must have 0755 or 0644 permissions.
While some websites and scripts may suggest using 777 permissions, for this reason, our servers are set up to utilize 755 instead because it is more safe. Any file or folder with permissions set to 777 will be unavailable. Use 755 rather than 777.
