1. DMAIC :

Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control in short referred as DMAIC. When it is fully implemented, ideates new process solution and problem solving approach. It is an improvement cycle which is a core tool used for driving six sigma rules. It makes the process easy for data driven cycle which improves, optimizes and stabilizes business process and design. Its an interconnected phase, where each step requires to ensure best possible result.  

The five steps in cyclic DMAIC process are :

  1. DEFINE
  2. MEASURE
  3. ANALYZE
  4. IMPROVE
  5. CONTROL

Disadvantages : 

Common criticism of DMAIC is that it is ineffective on communication framework. It always leaves audience confused and irritated. Also, a one size fits approach does not suites organization that relies on creativity. And when the goals is implemented in a certain new call monitor systems then DMAIC won’t work appropriately.

2. PDCA :

PDCA stands for Plan-Do-Check-Act. It is an iterative design which is a  management method used for various business purposes for their improvement, controlment and continuation of processes product. Originally developed by America Physicist Walter during 1920s. This is also called Deming cycle. Represents continuous loop of planning, doing, checking and acting. It provides simple and effective approach for solving problem and manages change. The model is useful for problem solving iterative techniques used to improve business-solving iterative technique used to improve business and processes..

PDCA consists four steps mentioned below :

  1. PLAN
  2. DO
  3. CHECK
  4. ACT

Disadvantages : 

Unspecific definition leads to a incorrect use. The Changes needed to be planned over longer period of time . With PDCA cycle, one needs to be considering ever accept and less proactively. Also, Makes ineffective tool for solving urgent problem Indulges multiple step that involves analysis and testing before the final outcome.

It extracts the main meaning. Prioritize the root cause which improves step. ANALYZE
ACT This step standardize when goals are met, improves the design curriculum and teaching method 3 This one initiates formal action plans which solves the targeted root problem which are raised during analyzation. Plans different variable isolation and co-factors until true obstacles are detected. Creates ,focuses on simplest and easiest solution also, deploy improvements. IMPROVE
    4 This step is to embed the changes and ensures sustainability, track improvement and gains approval to release resources. Helps in controlling plan, transition plans, control plan and provides delivery benefits.  CONTROL

04. Whereas, PDCA solves the overwhelming majority of problems. Its an effective way to solve bigger complex challenges.
05. PDCA cycle is inferior in that way. The six sigma rule is great way to drive through the process.
06. PDCA cycle performs on a quantitative and qualitative way. DMAIC provides an more detailed planning phase and plot.
