I had the opportunity to interview with Barclays for a full-time role, and I’m delighted to share my experience with you. The interview process consisted of several rounds, each assessing different aspects of my knowledge and skills.

Round 1: Technical Assessment

In the first round, you were tested on your technical skills. This included:

  • 1 coding question.
  • 1 SQL question.

Multiple-choice questions (MCQs) likely cover various technical topics.

Round 2: Combined Technical and HR Interview

The interview began with a discussion about cloud services, where I was asked about various types of cloud services and their real-world examples. For instance, I had to explain the concepts of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

I was questioned about specific AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch. I had to provide insights into what these services are used for and their relevance.

In addition to cloud services, I encountered database-related questions. I was expected to differentiate between types of indexes, understand various types of joins with SQL queries, and explain the importance of Database Management Systems (DBMS).

The interviewers also delved into Oracle database-specific questions, where I was required to discuss the physical components of an Oracle Database and the significance of disaster recovery in the context of databases.

In the coding segment, I was tasked with coding problems to assess my problem-solving skills and coding abilities.

The SQL component required me to write and optimize SQL queries, especially concerning joins and indexing.

The HR-Tech part was more about behavioral questions and assessing my cultural fit within the organization.

Outcome:

Out of approximately 250 candidates who applied, 28 were selected for the interview round.

Ultimately, 10 candidates, including myself, were chosen for full-time roles at Barclays.

Advice for Future Candidates:

  1. Be well-prepared for technical questions, especially in the areas of cloud services, database management, and project details.
  2. Stay updated on your coding and SQL skills.
  3. During HR-Tech interviews, focus on your communication skills and cultural fit within the organization.
  4. When answering questions, provide real-world examples and practical applications to demonstrate your understanding.
