Hello, everyone! I am a final-year student, undergraduate at IIT Kanpur. Through this blog, I would like to share my interview experience at Barclays for the Role of Decision Analyst. The location was Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

To begin with the process, I had the test in mid-October. It was an easy-to-moderate Aptitude test with a Psychometric evaluation. The shortlisting criteria for the test was a CPI of 8+. I did fairly well in the test and was shortlisted for the interview. The interview for Barclays DA was on Day 1.2 (IIT peeps will know this).

My interview was scheduled for 12:30 pm. I entered the room and was greeted by two interviewers, a senior guy and a lady, both were working on the tech side. They gave me their introduction and asked me to introduce myself. Then, they went directly to SQL questions. I do not remember the question exactly, but it required the use of the DENSE_RANK() window function. I was able to do it in the first go. Then, they asked me about the difference between RANK() and DENSE_RANK(). Another SQL question was asked where I had to use GROUP_BY(), and I was able to do it. Then I was asked some puzzles.

These were:

They then asked me a probability question that required the use of Permutations and Combinations. I got the correct approach but was unable to solve this question in one go and had to ask the interviewer for hints. Then they asked me to explain one of my projects, which I did using SQL, in detail, after which they did a lot of cross-questioning.

The interview went on for over 40 minutes, and I was able to answer most of the questions. The results came in about 2–3 hours, and I was not selected for the second round (HR round). Barclays took 2 girls from IITK for the role of Decision Analyst.

Overall, I feel this was a very good experience. This was my first interview in the placement drive, and it went well from my side. Although I couldn’t make it to the HR round, I was content to have given my best.
