Arista Networks visited Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala in August 2023 to recruit talented students for the Software Test Intern Role from January to June 2024. This internship opportunity was open to students from CS and circuital branches and was a great way to gain valuable hands-on experience and develop new skills. In order to be eligible, applicants had to have a CGPA of 8 or higher and could not have any active backlogs. To apply, students simply submitted their application online. 647 students were chosen to participate in the online assessment.

The recruitment process for the Software Test Intern Role included three rounds, with each round serving as an elimination round except for the communication round. The rounds were as follows:

  • Virtual online test Round: This round tested students’ cognitive abilities and technical knowledge through multiple-choice questions.
  • Group Discussion Round: This round assessed students’ communication skills and their ability to articulate their ideas clearly.
  • Technical + HR Round (Interview): This final round involved technical and HR interviews to evaluate students’ technical expertise, as well as their fit for the company culture and values.

Overall, the recruitment process was designed to identify the most qualified and well-rounded candidates for the Intern Role at Arista.

Cognitive and Technical (MCQ) Round:

It consisted of 51 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. Questions were from aptitude, CS fundamentals, networks, etc. The results of this round were declared immediately with 60 people qualifying. Solving problems to evaluate the students’ programming and problem-solving abilities. The difficulty level was between medium and hard.

Group Discussion Round:

The 60 qualifying students were divided into 8 groups(A-H), and online group discussions were conducted in front of a panel on Gmeet. Every group was given a 5-page document on the topic on which the Group Discussion was to be conducted. I got the topic of “AI and automation in Networking” and different aspects of it were covered in the document, which the group discussed and debated upon. It lasted for around 30 minutes. 25 students were shortlisted for the interview out of which 3 were from my group. The results were declared on the same day and the interviews were scheduled to take place on the same day within the next hour.

Technical + HR round (Interview):

My interview went on for around an hour. A panel of 3 members was present which asked questions in rotation. Questions about my Internship and the projects I did there and otherwise were heavily discussed, ranging from work distribution, personal contribution, ideas discussed, implementation, and the outcome of them. Apart from that questions were asked from CS fundamentals like Computer Networks, DBMS, etc. Was asked to solve a DSA question on an online platform of medium difficulty. Questions were also asked on Data Structures and a few SQL Queries.

After all evaluations were completed, the final list consisting of 6 selected students was shared on the same day. Hope this was helpful, Best of Luck.

Regards
