TCS Interview Experience for Software Engineer

I recently had an interview with TCS for the position of Software Engineer. The interview took place on August 15, 2023.

The process began with a virtual interview where I met with the Hiring Manager, Sarah, and a Senior Developer, Sunil, make a video call.

They started by asking about my background and experiences in software development. They were particularly interested in my previous project involving machine learning, and we had a detailed discussion about the challenges I faced and how I overcame them.

They also gave me a coding problem to solve in real-time. It involved designing a simple web application using a specific framework. I was given an hour to work on it, and both Sarah and Alex were available for any questions I had. It was a challenging task, but I managed to complete it within the time frame and explained my thought process as I worked through the problem.

In the technical round, I had a conversation with two senior engineers, Teena and Emily.

They asked me about my experience with various programming languages, databases, and version control systems. They also presented a complex algorithmic problem and asked me to explain how I would approach optimizing it.

While I didn’t have a perfect solution, I walked them through my problem-solving process and alternative approaches I would consider

.The final round was a behavioral interview with the HR manager, John. Asked about my teamwork skills, how I handle pressure, and how I prioritize tasks.

He also inquired about a challenging situation I faced in a previous job and how I resolved it. I shared a situation where I had to manage a tight deadline and conflicting requirements, and I explained how I communicated with the team to find a balanced solution.

Overall, the interview process was thorough and challenging, but it provided a great opportunity to showcase my technical skills and problem-solving abilities. The team at TCS seemed knowledgeable and genuinely interested in my experiences. Now, I’m eagerly awaiting their decision!
