Hey, there geeks!

In this article, I am going to discuss the round-by-round selection process for Seclore. The role offered by the company was ‘Trainee Product Engineer’.

Rounds:

  • Programming Test
  • Aptitude test
  • 1st level technical interview
  • Final Technical Interview

Round 1: Programming Test

Duration: 60 mins

The programming test was organized on HackerEarth. There was only 1 problem which had to be solved in 60 mins. The problem was easy-medium.

Round 2: Aptitude test

Duration: 30 mins

After 3 days I got a mail from HR for this round. This round was on Mettl. There were 16 basic logical reasoning questions.

After 7 days after this round, I got a call from HR that they will be scheduling my interview with the chief product Architect. HR asked for some of my details like my placement status, current location, etc. She also informed me what should i prepare for the interview like my projects and puzzles(Seclore doesn’t ask DSA questions in an interview, it focuses on only Puzzles and projects).

Round 3: 1st level technical interview

Duration: 60 mins

The interview started with introductions. Then he started asking for puzzles. He asked for 2 puzzles.

  • A man has 53 socks in his drawer. They are 21 identical blue, 15 identical black, and 17 identical red. The light went off and he is in complete darkness. How many socks must he take out to be 100% certain that he has a pair of black socks?
  • Karan and Arjun run a 100-meter race, where Karan beats Arjun by 10 meters. To do a favor to Arjun, Karan starts 10 meters behind the starting line in a second 100 race. They both run at their earlier speeds. Who will win this time?

I answered both of them and he was satisfied with the answers. Then he started asking questions on my projects. This went like a discussion. He went deep into my project asking why i used this particular tech stack, how I implemented this etc. The interviewer was very friendly and encouraged me throughout the interview. This was one of the best interviews i have given.

Round 4: Final technical interview

Duration: 60 mins

This interview was scheduled with the VP of Product Engineering (also co-founder). The interview started with some introductions not formal at all. She was mostly asking questions about things that were not on my resume. Then she asked me for 2 puzzles.

  • Find a number of ways to make 5-digit numbers divisible by 25 that can be formed using only the digits 1,2,3,4,5 and 0 taken five at a time.
  • This a trick question in which 4 contradicting options were given. The answer was none of them true.

I answered both of them correctly. then she asked me if I had any questions. After that interview ended.

Verdict: Rejected

Reason: Well they didn’t give any reason but I think I knew before my 2nd interview that I’m going to be rejected. They wanted me to come to Mumbai for a final face 2 face interview (This was not told before) but as i live very far from Mumbai and I’ve never traveled so far alone I said it was not possible for me. They scheduled my online interview. When my final interview started with VP she looked so uninterested in my interview. She wasn’t making eye contact while asking questions even when I answered correctly. She was asking very vague questions like my 3rd year ECE project (I was wondering how is this relevant). Maybe she was tired from a hectic interview schedule but my interview was supposed to be 60 min which ended in just 30 min. The overall final interview was very unprofessional.

How to prepare and learn from my mistakes :

All you need is to prepare for your project in deep and if you’ve done any internship it will be very good, be prepared to be questioned on that. Moreover for puzzles I solved all the puzzles on GeeksForGeeks it was sufficient. If they ask you for an F2F interview don’t deny it.
