Hi,

I am sharing my experience during my interview as a Software Engineer Intern at BYJU.

Last year I applied for a software engineer intern position at BYJU, a leading ed-tech company in India. A few days later, I received an email from the company inviting me for an interview at their office in Bangalore. I was excited for the opportunity and began preparing for the interview.

On the day of the interview, I arrived at BYJU’s office a few minutes early and checked in with the receptionist. The office was modern and spacious, with a buzzing atmosphere of energy and enthusiasm.

After a short wait, I was greeted by the HR representative who escorted me to a conference room. The room was well-lit and furnished with comfortable chairs and a large screen display. I was offered a beverage and then waited for the interviewer.

The interviewer was a senior software engineer with extensive experience in the field. They welcomed me and briefly introduced the company and its mission. The interviewer then asked me to introduce myself and share a bit about my background and experience.

The interview began with some general questions about my qualifications, experience, and interest in the role. I explained how I had completed my sophomore year in computer science and had completed relevant coursework. I also shared my passion for technology and my desire to work for a company that is making a positive impact on society.

The interviewer then asked me some specific questions related to my technical skills, such as my proficiency in programming languages, software development methodologies, and database management. They also asked me about my experience working in a team environment and collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders.

The interview then moved to some behavioral questions to assess my problem-solving abilities and team skills. The interviewer asked me to describe a time when I had faced a difficult technical challenge and how I had overcome it. They also asked me about my experience working with a team and my role in achieving team goals.

Throughout the interview, the interviewer was friendly and supportive, and I felt comfortable discussing my technical expertise and problem-solving abilities. I tried to provide specific examples from my past coursework and personal projects to illustrate my abilities.

After the interview, the HR representative escorted me to another room where I had to take an online coding test, which was a part of the selection process. The test was divided into different sections, including data structures and algorithms, software design, and debugging.

Overall, the interview lasted about an hour, and I felt like it went well. I left BYJU’s office feeling excited about the prospect of working for such a dynamic and innovative company.

A few days later, I received an email from BYJU’s informing me that I had been shortlisted for the next round of the selection process, which involved a technical interview and a final interview with the senior leadership team.

I was thrilled to hear the news and began preparing for the next round. Although the selection process was intense and challenging, it was also an incredible learning experience that helped me grow as a professional and as a person.

Eventually, I was not selected for some reasons and lack of some necessary skills but it was a milestone experience for me and I hope for getting more opportunities in the future.
