I am sharing my interview experience with Onelab Ventures for the role of SDE Intern. Onelab Ventures is a startup that focuses on developing MVPs for other startups. It was off-campus hiring and I applied for this opening at Wellfound.
The hiring process involved 2 interview rounds.
Round 1
This interview round was about 30 minutes long and mainly focused on technical questions. The interview started with a “Tell me about yourself” question. I was asked to share the screen and open the visual studio code. Then the questions were asked from JavaScript. Some of them were as follows:
- Basic syntax questions like loops, sorting, etc.
- Sorting an array using JavaScript.
- Sorting an array of strings based on some condition.
- Implement Binary Search algorithm in JavaScript.
- Explain your projects.
Then I was asked to run the project locally. During coding, I was also allowed to use Google to search for something if I got stuck. In the end, the interviewer asked me “If I have any questions to ask?”. I asked about her experience in the company.
Round 2
Round 2 was also about 30 minutes long interview. This was the Technical + HR round. I was asked to share the screen and open the code editor. Coding had to be implemented in JavaScript only. Then I was asked to show the code of my project. Then the interviewer checked how I implemented the code. Some questions were asked from my code like “How to expire JWT token?”. Then I was asked to show my git commits of the projects. Then the interviewer asked me to “Tell my experience of the previous internship and what have I done there?”.
The overall interview experience was very good. The interviewers in both rounds were the co-founders of the company and were humble.
Tips
- Don’t panic in the interview and answer the questions calmly.
- Put on formal clothes because it impresses the interviewer.
- If you are allowed to ask any question at the end then don’t miss it and ask a good question.
