NIT Raipur Sports Club Experience as Basketball Player(International)

Sports Club Basketball NIT Raipur [Inter NIT]

When I was in 2nd semester, I saw some seniors wearing college jerseys and Tracks like a National player wears during the sports fest [SAMAR] of NIT Raipur. This was the moment I got fascinated, enquired about it, and got to know 12 players are selected from each NIT, and then every year InterNIT tournament is held like any other national tournament by MHRD. It’s almost similar to nationals as we get DA & TA, Jersey, Tracks, etc. Facilities. The competition is of great level, you participate in a tournament with 25 other teams.

I had played basketball in school but didn’t have a good skill level. I started practicing daily in 2018 December and was consistent enough.

What did I do then?

I used to attend classes, next after 4 pm sat in the library and studied for 1-2 hrs and from there went to the canteen, ate something. Finally, I was on the court by 6 pm and practiced for 1 hr alone and then from 7-8 pm with the team and 8-9 pm practice matches.

I was the one who turned maximum days on the court. Seniors and co-players really helped me in shaping my game and after 7-8 months I was good enough and I started playing tournaments in Raipur. I represented my college at AIIMS Raipur and 3 more universities in Raipur.

Finally, 2019 December came and the team list came from the college, my name was there on the list. I was really happy but somewhere I already knew of it, because of what had happened in the last tournament we played in our college itself- SAMAR 2019. I heard college men cheering my name- AMAN, AMAN… While we played against different colleges.

Biggest moment !!

Around 12 January we were called into the department and jerseys, tracks, and other things were distributed. I saw my name Jersey and felt proud. I still have the kit and will cherish it forever in my life.

We went to NITK Surathkal and played the 1-week long tournament there. I learned a lot and overall it’s one of the best moments of my life.

After that whenever I used to go on the court for practice I could see the way people looked at me I could feel- I was in their position last year. Now they are looking up at me…

Moreover, all this happened in 2nd year of my college, it’s when I had 100% attendance in college, scored an 8+ GPA, as well represented the college at the National level tournaments and local tournaments as well.

• Still, I proudly were the Jersey when I go to play anywhere and whenever I am in Raipur – I make sure to go and play in the college.
• Because it makes me feel how I saw something, it inspired me and I gave myself a challenge. Moreover, dedicated myself to the goal, worked hard, and achieved it.

So if you decide anything, you can achieve it with consistency, dedication, and hard work. If you have these 3 you will be motivated enough.

So, make your goals, follow your passion, and give your best in whatever you do. College is one of those places where you should give try… Don’t think too much, you have great potential I know [more than me, you know my friend].
