About NIELIT

NIELIT, which stands for the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology, is a central government organization in India. It frequently releases job openings for various positions on a contractual basis for 11 months across multiple locations. One such position I applied for was the Junior Faculty role at NIELIT Haridwar. I came across the advertisement for this position in a newspaper when I had just completed my B. Tech final year and was considered a fresher.

The recruitment process consisted of two rounds.

First Round

In the first round, there was a written test that included coding questions and multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The coding section tested my programming skills, while the MCQs covered various topics related to Computer Science.

Second Round

After successfully clearing the written test, I moved on to the second round, which involved a face-to-face interview. The interview primarily focused on Computer Science concepts. They asked me to explain topics such as Multithreading, Synchronization, and the working of loops. Additionally, they evaluated my teaching skills by requesting a demo presentation on how I would explain a particular topic to students.

Result

The results were subsequently announced on the NIELIT website. The offered salary for the Junior Faculty position was quite attractive, especially considering Haridwar’s relatively lower cost of living compared to larger cities. As a fresher, this opportunity provided an excellent start to my career in the field of Computer Science and as Teaching.

Promotion

After working as a Junior Faculty at NIELIT for 11 months, I got promoted to the position of Faculty. I was part of the Designing Team, where my skills in Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, and AutoCAD were utilized. The promotion process involved two face-to-face interviews, during which I discussed my work as a Junior Faculty and highlighted my contributions to the Designing Team. I successfully secured the promotion and was excited to take on new responsibilities as a Faculty at NIELIT.
