Hey everyone, I’m Shiv Shikhar Sinha, and I recently had the opportunity to go through the campus recruitment process at Newgen Software Technologies for the role of Software Engineer (Trainee). I wanted to share my experience to help other freshers who might be on a similar journey to me.

Campus Recruitment Process:

The process began with a Pre-Placement Talk, where we got introduced to the company and had a sneak peek into the upcoming stages for hiring in our college.

Up next were the Aptitude, English and Technical Tests. It was an online test covering various areas. I must mention the questions were quite challenging, with the difficulty level being above average.

Elimination Shortlisting followed this round, where candidates were selected based on sectional cut-offs.

After that, we had an interesting Psychological Test to measure our behaviour, emotions, and thoughts as a whole. It was a unique experience.

Personal Discussion Round was the next step, and it included both Technical and HR interviews. In my case, I faced a Technical Round and a HR Round.

Technical Round:

The Technical Round was both challenging and enlightening. It started with a short introduction and questions related to my resume. I had experience in Frontend Web Development and UI/UX Design, so the interviewer started asking questions in these areas. JavaScript which is a crucial part of web development, was a key focus. Followed by a series of questions around basic data structures like Stacks and Linked Lists.

I also mentioned my relevant coursework in databases on my resume, and this led to questions about databases. These questions were manageable for someone with a medium to strong background in this subject.

HR Round:

In the HR Round, I was asked basic questions about my family, future goals, achievements, strengths, and weaknesses. A significant question was about why I wanted to join Newgen Software Technologies. It’s a great opportunity to express your enthusiasm for the company and the role as well as present your future goals and how they align with the company’s interests.

To my surprise, some students were eliminated in the HR Round as well.

Outcome:

The Technical and HR round was taken on the same day and the final result of the selection came after 4 days. In the end, the hard work paid off, and I was one of the 7 students selected for the role of Software Engineer (Trainee). It’s an exciting journey that’s just beginning, and I’m looking forward to the learning and growth opportunities that lie ahead.

Overall my interview experience was quite similar an to ideal interview so it went smoothly. My biggest takeaway from the interview was that if you have put in effort and it is your day you will make it through it.

I hope this detailed account of my interview experience helps others in their preparation. If you have any questions or need more insights, feel free to ask. Best of luck to all future candidates!
