Mckinsey visited our college campus in Aug 2022 for FTE for the role of Junior Software Developer.

Round 1

The first round was the HackerRank test, all the applied students got the link.

In the test, the following sections were asked.

  • Coding MCQs
  • Programming Questions

I don’t remember the exact problems, but the MCQs were from DBMS, OS, and Networking.

In coding problems, one was just implementation based, and the other one was from DP. Both questions were of easy-medium level.

Round 2

This was a pair programming round, around 300 students were shortlisted for this round.

In this round, there is one programming problem on HackerRank. We have to first explain the algorithm to one of the member of the Mckinsey team who is present there, and then have to write the code.

The question asked was very similar to this one –

Round 3

This round was of technical interviews. Around 40 students were shortlisted for this round.

Initially, the interviewer asked questions from my resume like explaining some of my projects, etc. Then he asked me to explain the algorithm of merge sort with an example on the whiteboard. He gave me some follow-up questions related to this.

After this, he asked me some questions about linkedlist, and hash maps. The round lasted for around 45 minutes.

Round 4

This was the final round with the CTO. Around 15 students were shortlisted for this round. I was not shortlisted for this round, but one of my friends was shortlisted for this round, so he told me about this round.

It was a technical + behavioral round, the interviewer asked some situational-based questions and some web dev-related questions. After this, he just had a general conversation about how things actually work in the company.
