KPIT Interview Experience (On-Campus)

Registration and Examination

I’m an Electrical Engineering student at ITER, SOA University and this is my experience of getting placed at KPIT in campus placements. So we got an email from our training and placement cell that we had to register ourselves on an app called Superset. So I applied for the job profile of Associate Engineer at KPIT, I had to give my details and upload my updated resume( Update your resume according to the Job Description).

So after 8-10 days of registration, we finally got the date of the pre-placement talk and exam. So it was on one day only. So we attended the pre-placement talk and on the same evening, we had the exam. It was an online AI-proctored test. The test consisted of Aptitude, logical reasoning, quantitative analysis, puzzles, and finally two coding questions that can only be solved with C++/C.

Technical Interview

After 8-10 days of the exam, I received a meeting link from Superset which was the interview link for the Technical Interview. On the day of the interview, I contacted other students as well. Many were being asked about C++/C theory questions, puzzles, and domain-specific questions. Finally, it was my turn. So first the interviewer introduced himself and asked me to do the same.

So I tried to tilt the situation in my favor by saying in my introduction that I have a good stronghold on microcontroller-based projects. After that, the interviewer asked me about what projects I have done. I told him about the projects and how I made a major project which was an automated vacuum cleaner for Roads using Arduino UNO. Then my interview went on for 49 minutes. He asked me everything in detail about my project to check whether I was thorough in that or not.

Then he asked me 3 questions related to C++ which I answered. Then finally the interview was over and he asked me if I had any questions for him. I was a bit excited and asked him to rate my interview on a scale of 1-10(please don’t do this, I didn’t have any idea that it might have a negative effect). He was a friendly interviewer so he suggested where I could improve.

HR Interview

Again after 10 days, I received another meeting link from Superset. This meeting was the HR Interview. Now don’t take this interview lightly. It is the zone where much elimination takes place. Students get eliminated due to overconfidence, bad attitude, etc. So My interview started with a very friendly atmosphere. The interviewer introduced himself and asked me to do the same. After the same introduction he asked again about my projects. I explained to him in a summary.

Then he asked me a hypothetical question about what I would do if I got some work assigned in evening 5 and completed it by the next morning 11. So I gave an answer that seemed to satisfy him. I told him that I’ll prioritize the urgent requirements and complete them first and if time permits I’ll complete it all in total otherwise the progress will speak for itself. Then he asked me if I had seen any web series or movies recently. I told him that I had been watching Vikings. He asked me about some learnings from Vikings. I told him that Vikings were very courageous and didn’t fear death as they saw it as the only way to Heaven. Then he concluded the meeting and said “Good Job, the team will get back to you.”

Selection

After 12 days, I received a mail from our training and placement cell which contained the list of 23 students who had been selected by KPIT and there I was sitting in the 23rd position.
