IIT Kharagpur Campus Experience

It has been two years since I started my undergraduate degree at IIT Kharagpur. I am one of those JEE aspirants who dreamt about getting into an IIT. After working for nearly two years, my dream came true. I first reached campus before starting my 3rd semester (1st two-semester went online). Explored the campus, joined the hostel, met new people and finally took offline classes.

IIT Kharagpur has one of India’s biggest campuses and the best library. There are numerous societies one can join based on their interest. They got opportunities to interact with people from various backgrounds. The campus has all the facilities and fantastic faculty. Apart from classes, you get much free time to learn new skills.

Offline classes are more interesting than online classes. Met all the people in person whom I met online during my first year. We used to cycle to Nalanda to attend lectures. Day by day, you get habituated to the routine. As days went by, we gave our midsems and endsems. We got our winter holidays around the last week of November and reached home.

Our spring semester started in January. Spring semester comprises many fests such as Springfest, Kshitij and many departmental fests. These fests were conducted offline after covid. They hold some of my best experiences on campus. Watching Ashneer Grover’s talk or listening to king’s songs what, ever the event, kgp never fails to mesmerise. We got back to our routine after having fun weekends during fests. Soon reached our midsems. Around the last week of March, we have hall days on our campus. One can invite all their friends to their rooms and have fun. This concept is new for me, but it has been a good experience and fun. And fast forward we gave our endsems too and left for home for a very long summer vacation.

I have completed two semesters in offline mode so far, and excited for the upcoming four semesters on campus.

I am writing this on my way to campus after completing my summer vacation. I am excited for the upcoming semester.

Fun Fact: By the time you memorise a semester timetable, the semester ends.
