Report

10th April 2023, Vivanta, Dwarka, New Delhi:

99.72 percentile in CAT | GEM Profile | B.Tech in CSE | Work ex of 19 months [considered till date] | 3 months at Infosys and currently on GeeksforGeeks as MTS (technical content, DSA) | 10th/12th/Grad – 93.42/91.0/83.4

Time: Reporting time was 1 pm, I went at 12:45 pm. Got out of the interview around 3:30 pm

Interview [No WAT]: There were 5 panels. I was the 2nd person on Panel-5 [15 persons in each panel]. There were 2 panelists – one female (F) and one male (M). Both middle-aged. The interview was around 10-11 min.

  • M called me in and the interview started
  • Me: Greeted them “Good afternoon”.
  • [They greeted back, Have a seat]
  • F: Introduce yourself.
  • Me: Answered as prepared.
  • F: So your hobbies are mainly related to sporting activity.
  • Me: Said that I was engaged in sports from childhood and that remained with me throughout.
  • F: Why you left Infosys?
  • Me: Told the well-prepared answer.
  • M: Please tell us about your job profile in the current company.
  • Me: Told them about my job profile and responsibilities.
  • M: So is it an editor role or reviewer?
  • Me: It consists of both the responsibilities.
  • M: Do you hold any stake like stock share in the company?
  • Me: No.
  • M: So what is the difference between article and blog?
  • Me: What I think is that Blog is mainly related to our experience or our opinion and mostly an informal way of telling things whereas articles are more fact based and concised forms of telling about something.
  • M: Which subject in Computer science your are comfortable in?
  • Me: As I am currenlty engaged with the subject DSA, I am more confident in that.
  • M: Name some sorting algorithms, just the names.
  • Me: Said [I missed Heap Sort]
  • M: And Heap Sort
  • Me: Yes Heap sort is also there [and we both had an exchange of smile].
  • [Here M & F both were about to ask something at the same time and had a mix up. Finally M asked]
  • M: What is this big Oh and small oh in algorithms?
  • Me: Answered that it is a mathematical way of determining the run time complexity of algorithms.
  • M: Are they related to worst case or what?
  • Me: We can express any of the three [best, average and worst] types of complexities using them.
  • M: Can you explain why the time complexity of Bubble sort is O(n*n)
  • Me: Explained in detail.
  • F: What is algorithmic bias? [She Google searched the question before asking]
  • Me: Answered
  • F: Can you give any example
  • Me: Provided an example
  • F: So you chose the current company because you like to be in teaching role or?
  • Me: As I have mentioned earlier that I had a bit of knack for teaching and I used to be part of such clubs in my college, So partly yes because of that and partly due to the attachment that I forged while doing my internship.
  • F: Why then MBA?
  • Me: Told well prepared answer.
  • F: 5 years ahead in the line you want to be in a leadership position or in position with executional responsibilities?
  • Me: I obviously want to be a leader.
  • F: Do you have any new idea in your mind?
  • Me: Currently I don’t have any such ideas, but I will keep my eyes open and if I find out something that is suitable for me I will obviously try to execute that.
  • F looked to M, both nodded and they said me the interview is over. Me and both the panelists wished each other good day and I came out.

Verdict: Converted

My suggestion to anyone is to be confident in your answers during the interview and have your facts and reasons ready for any of the decisions that you have made or willing to make.
